A Different Bible

What if? It's the basis of many stories. We ask. We ponder. We wonder.

On Tuesdays I throw one out there. What if? It may be speculative. It may stem from something I see. It may be something I pull from the news.

Make of it what you will. If a for instance is not specified, interpret that instance as you wish. And if the idea turns into a story, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements 😉

What if something that you wrote ages ago was now being used as a foundational text for some religion you only just found out about? (I won't specify what you wrote. It could be a diary. It could be a story of some sort. Nor will I specify where this group is located. They could be here. They could be extraterrestrials.)

  1. I hope it’s based on something positive should that ever happen.

  2. Oh, boy. The religion would probably make Sodom and Gomorrah look like Play School. ~blush~ Well, it would be tame (if weird) using blog post texts. lol Thanks for making me laugh.

  3. I hope it’s something I wrote as a naive and optimistic teen

  4. I'd certainly try to dissuade them! My first reaction would be to say, "What the hell? That was just a story/my diary!" I hope they'd listen. It would be pretty embarrassing for them though, so they might rather discredit me. I'd distance myself from the group. Probably go so far as to publicly reveal their text is a fraud. Could I sue for using my works without permission? Not if extraterrestrials I guess.

  6. This was a Star Trek episode. Why would they want to do something I wrote about...they could do so much better.

I just hope it's not something embarrassing!

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
