Reruns

I really haven't been much in the mood to do anything lately. I mean, I've had homework for school. (Lesson planning. Grading. Keeping up with all the teacher-y stuff.) But otherwise, all I wanted to do for my downtime was watch TV and eat chocolate.

But on Saturdays I have this time where I really need something to do with my hands, so I pulled out some stash yarn and a pattern I had done before. I got the pieces done:

All that's left is assembling the pieces.

(I wrote about working this pattern here and here. Not quite a year ago.)

Hopefully I'll get it finished. Eventually.

I have recently remembered that I have three projects that I have started that are currently languishing, waiting for my attention. That I remembered them is a good sign. Will I get to them? 🤷

I almost posted some pictures of them, but I didn't need that kind of pressure. I don't tell the world about doing things unless I am certain I will do them. That whole accountability thing that people say helps them has the opposite effect on me. And then I'll feel guilty which will push me into a shame spiral, and nothing will get done.

So, I'm not even going to assume I'll finish this pouch. I hope to, but it might not happen.

I don't need any more pressure right now.

I hope you have a great week and are able to accomplish everything you wish to.

  1. If you do, you do, if you don't you don't - simple! No pressure.

    1. Oh, I know. That's why I didn't say anything about what I'm planning.

  2. Ooh, I know just how you feel there with the shame spiral. I always wondered how posting progress motivates people.

  3. Oh the guilt for not being productive and not finishing projects is horrible and not fair. It'll happen when it happens.. no pressure.

  4. We all need to learn not to pressure ourselves so much.

  5. If there was an Incomplete Project police, I would have been arrested a long time ago. No Incomplete Project police. Enjoy your TV and chocolate. Don't make your life miserable. The sun will still rise tomorrow no matter what you do today.

    1. I'm not making myself miserable. I'm just trying to find something to post on Mondays.

  8. Nice color. I don't know how many projects I have going at one time, but typically it's no less than 3. One is close to finished, but I've just not done it. It's just not calling my name; but eventually I'll get to it. I think most of us crafters have things that have been in the works for awhile and more. It doesn't bother me though. Occasionally I do post pictures to remind myself of the project. When they're tucked away in a project bag, it's easy to forget you even have them. Without looking and off the top of my head, I know I have 4 projects: 2 large afghans, a scarf, and the baby blanket. The only one I'm working on currently is the baby blanket....oh well.

    1. There's a reason the seven (and a half) year cardi took me seven and a half years. I like having several projects on the go. Right now it doesn't feel like I have several projects on the go.

    1. I just started season 2 of Wheel of Time. Before that, I finished off A Discovery of Witches. Lately I've been watching Star Trek: Lower Decks. I've got nothing really that I'd highly recommend, although A Million Miles Away on Amazon Prime is a movie I would suggest you check out.

  11. Thank you, Liz. My hope is that I kick the cold I brought back from Germany before too long. :)

    1. Ick. I'm sorry. I hope you kick that cold sooner rather than later.

  12. I didn't realize you would need to do lesson planning. That blue is a particularly lovely blue.

    1. In long-terms, yeah. Especially in a vacant class that has no actual teacher. That's what I like about day-to-day subbing--lesson plans are provided.

  13. I love the colour! I can’t wait to see what you will create. You know, I’m the same way…I don’t like being told I must finish this and be held “accountable” ….my “ screw you” thinking comes into play and I end up doing the opposite so I rather say nothing. It may take longer but I’m not a type A personality so it works for me.

    1. If there is no deadline, there's no need to tell anyone you're working on something. That's my belief, anyway.
