How to Crochet a Water Bottle Carrier

About a year ago, I made three videos. The idea was to edit them into something coherent and then post them to YouTube.

The first video is finally ready. (I sent them to my brother who knows how to edit video. He kindly did the edits for me. It took me forever to watch and ask for fixes. And then to watch again to make sure it's ready to be posted.)

It's a how to make this thing:

I wrote out the pattern about decade ago and posted it to this blog. But last summer I had this idea of making it on camera. So, I did.

And here's the resulting video:

It's about a half hour long.

Hopefully I'll get the next two uploaded sometime this summer. That's the goal, anyway.

  1. Makes me want to get out my neglected crochet hook! I'm hopeless at this tho, haha

    1. It's a fairly easy project. If you're temped, you should try :)

  2. Boy your fingers fly! And the carrier came out nice, as always. I love the color.

  3. If I ever finish my 2023 temperature blanket I think this will be next (either this or the Christmas tree lights) because I could use one. I really liked the quality of your voice (I listened to the first four minutes); I think your teaching experience shows in your presentation, too. And so much work to create the video, too. I hope it gets watched. One extremely slight quibble - the gauge is in your written instructions but not stated in the video (at least, not at the beginning of the video). I suppose it doesn't matter for this project because you have to adjust the size to the size of the bottle anyway, but it may matter for future projects. I'll use the gauge in the written instructions to calculate the hook size I'll use.

    1. I did not include the gauge, mostly because I measure what I'm doing against the bottle. And there won't be gauge on the next two videos, either. I do know the importance of gauge. In this video format, I decided not to mention it.

  4. I remember the bottle holders. Very clever.

    1. Yeah, this is an older pattern of mine, but it is mine, so I felt safe making the video.

  5. What a great idea. So useful for anyone who walks or hikes, like even me to the park with Mickey!

    1. I do sell finished ones, or at least I used to. (I will take orders if you're interested.)

  6. I love this! And the color too. Maybe I’ll try making one too.

  7. I love this. Sometimes I get my head stuck in the larger projects and then I find myself needing a project like this. I absolutely love the pattern. Thank you!

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
