Half a Pillow Cover

I have almost gotten to the end of the second skein for my little pillow project. So, it was time to bind off as I don't want to go out and get a third skein

And...

It wasn't enough to cover the full pillow.

Ah well. It was enough to cover the front.

So now I get to figure out what I'm going to do for the back. Fabric? Or knit something with a different yarn?

Fabric would be quicker, but I don't actually have a sewing machine, so that would necessitate my doing some hand sewing.

Knitting (or crocheting) something out of a contrasting yarn will likely take time, but it would be a way to use up some of my stash. Do I have enough of one yarn in my stash for the back of this thing? Not likely.

You don't have to weigh in on my debate. I'm just thinking out loud.

I don't need a solution now. I can take some time to ponder. But this means that I have nothing on the needles for next week.

It is again time to find myself a new project.

Today's A to Z Challenge post brought to you by the letter

  1. I am sure you wouldn't want the needles to be idle. So, hopefully you will find a new project soon.

  2. thecontemplativecat here. If you didn't have those needles or hooks in your hands, it would feel wrong. I would make the other side in a contrasting color.

    1. Yeah, it's just a matter of finding yarn. Which I have in bins and stashed under my bed. Doable.

  3. I have a pillow that is yarn (I think crochet) on the front, and fabric on the back. That would certainly be easier/quicker for you.

    1. It would be. But do I want to hand sew? Maybe...

  5. Fabric would be quicker. Either way, I’m sure it will be nice.

    1. And getting it done sooner would be ideal.

  7. You just need a shorter pillow.

    1. That would solve it. It's too bad I already have the pillow.

    2. Just extend the other half around the end of the pillow to meet up? Might look kind of cool that way.

    3. On a different pillow. On the pillow I have, I don't have enough knitted fabric to make it all the way around.

  8. I would (since I'm not the one working on this) vote for a fabric back Why buy more yarn and then have leftovers that will sit around? It only took me 52 years to learn that.

    1. I won't buy more yarn for this. If I knit the back, it'll be from stash yarn. I only really buy yarn for specific projects, and as this one was always a way to use up yarn I had, there will be no new yarn for it.

  9. It's a lovely piece and I'm sure you'll find your right-fit solution after you've contemplated it a bit longer.

    1. I've got an idea. I just got supplies. Now, I'll get to see if my idea works. That's not a given.

  10. I vote for a fabric back because then whoever uses it can have two different sides with two different textures to choose from. And the fabric could be cooler, too, while the knitting warmer.

    1. Ooh, good point. But I'm sure you'll figure out something awesome whatever you choose. And I liked "brought to you by the letter H". LOL

    2. I doubt I'll turn it around. But we'll see. Things don't always work out as I envision.

    1. It'll be great when I can actually put it on the pillow.
