Pronouns Unclear

What if? It's the basis of many stories. We ask. We ponder. We wonder.

On Tuesdays I throw one out there. What if? It may be speculative. It may stem from something I see. It may be something I pull from the news.

Make of it what you will. If a for instance is not specified, interpret that instance as you wish. And if the idea turns into a story, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements 😉

You probably saw the story of a man who accused a 9-year-old girl of being trans at a track and field event a week ago. Which just got me thinking...

What if some random stranger called you out and accused you of not being the gender you have always been (or accused you of being trans if you are cis)?

  2. I will be taken aback, surely. But I wouldn't care what others say. If am questioned, I will say I know about myself more than anyone else.

  5. It’s Birgit…I’d be thinking…what do you care? ..what a bully! How can he get away with this. Now, if I am my age, I would probably be bad and start coming on to him to freak him out.

  7. Whoops. Lisa, when I deleted your deleted post, it took down your corrected post too. So, here's your comment (via my email):

No, I hadn't read that. I just did. What a horrid, horrid person, and his wife as well. If someone said something to me I'd ignore them. I'm not sure engaging with someone like that would be safe. It's not unlikely they would be the sort to be carrying a weapon. You know, to be the "good guy with a gun." (eye roll) My in-laws were not so nice people, but if they had gone this far I'd have cut them off. My late husband would have agreed, the apple fell a long way from that tree, in fact, it rolled down the hill as far as it could go!

  9. I'd be so tempted to drop my drawers and show them my stretch marks and ask them to explain how the **** I got those. What nerve. I wish the Canadians could have done more to prosecute that couple - what they did to that little girl may scar her for the rest of her life. It was child abuse, pure and simple.

  10. I think to much emphasis has been drawn to the topic. To many people are making kids question their identity.

  11. I tend to ignore rude people unless they confront a loved one. Then I turn into a mama bear. lol By the way, I use my rainbow/unicorn beach towel anytime I need one. It amuses me to think some folks might assume I'm a lesbian.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
