Dinner

I was just doing my weekly grocery shopping, and I got to thinking. I have a basic meal that is kind of my go-to, a meal that I'll throw together on a busy weeknight that seems to work for me. It's easy, and I'm not bored of it.

So, that's my question for you today: Do you have a meal that you regularly eat (like weekly) that's easy to prepare and you never seem to tire of it?

For me, it's chicken breast (precooked, so I just have to reheat it in the microwave) with a simple side of rice (a packaged side dish) and green beans. I make this so often I have it down to routine.

  1. Not really. My son will usually ask, "Are there dinner plans?" since he knows not to ask, "What's for dinner?" I don't cook a real dinner probably half the week. It's usually chicken breasts when I do. He's an adult, he can figure out feeding himself! I buy big packs of boneless skinless chicken breasts, then cut them up, freeze them in strips, chunks, or halved (horizontally, not sure how to say that in cooking terms!).

    1. When I lived with my mom when I was an adult, I did the majority of the cooking. Your son needs to step up his game and take on some cooking responsibilities ;)

  2. I'm fortunate - my husband does the cooking and has for years. So I asked him and he said "anything with pasta". And it's true - for him, pasta is the ultimate convenience food. He's also big into chicken breast, and steamfresh type frozen veggies.

  3. Since I been in work force my husband handles the cooking.
Coffee is on, and stay safe.

  4. well that's darn easy. I get in ruts but lately I've just been eating bagged salad, being still in a rut and having no creative ideas.

    1. Hey, that's easy. Nothing wrong with a rut, especially if it's where you need to be at the moment.

  8. Pasta. I change up the pasta; anything from orzo to spaghetti, but some kind of pasta, usually with meat sauce or meatballs (I make huge batches of them to keep in the freezer) and tomato sauce.

  9. O, yes. Wheat dosa. Easy to cook. And it's my favorite.

  10. Being retired, I enjoy cooking more and more. My taste buds seem to bore easily, too. lol Hence I don't have a current go-to. While working full time, my daily breakfast consisted of Jimmy Dean Delights breakfast sandwiches and I'd eat them now if they weren't so expensive.

    1. It's nice to have an easy breakfast. But yeah, those prepared foods are getting really expensive.
