Witnessing Another Bout of Yarn Chicken

It was Saturday. I was out, but I had taken the eye sweater with me to work on. I even remembered the skein of yarn I'd need. Although, I only brought one...

And this is how I ended up in a game of yarn chicken. I lost...

I mean, it wasn't even close. Sigh.

I have another skein of the yarn. I just didn't have it with me.

The other sleeve...

So, I did indeed make a bit of progress. Not much, but it's better than nothing.

Niece's birthday was now over three months ago. Maybe I'll get this done in time for Christmas?

  1. I'm glad you had another even if it wasn't with you. I remember running out and the newer dye lot was no where near the same. I actually have the problem with my towels! Bought two different times, and folded by each other they look completely different colors. Not that it matters, they're bathroom towels and anyone who is that fussy doesn't go in my bathroom!

    1. I had the yarn problem once where I couldn't find the right dye lot. I had to do some sleight of hand to get the new skein to work. I'm glad I bought two of those skeins. I thought I'd need them.

  3. Oof. Of course that happens. "Do I need an extra? No, I can totally make it." Such hubris.

  4. Right. At least you made some progress.

  5. Playing yarn chicken is part of the fun of crocheting, until you lose and find no more skeins of your dye lot in the store (or better yet, wait a couple of years, run short, and find the yarn has been discontinued. Not that I would know anything about that lol.)

  6. She should've made her request sooner. I bet you have it done before Christmas.

    1. It wasn't when she asked (when I offered in plenty of time for her birthday). It was that she found something that didn't have a pattern. I take a while when I have to wing it.

    1. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

  8. The fact you can 'wing it' amazes me. And I can't help but wonder where you were on a Saturday night while wanting a project on hand. :) Best wishes!

    1. If I was any good at winging it, I would have been done with this already. (I was visiting my father. We watch TV. I work on yarny projects.)

  10. A few more rows and it will be time to consider these fun different stitches for the wrist ;)

  11. How could she not like it? It's pretty and ha.d made by you. I think she will love it. It's a one of a kind gift to cherish.

    1. She says nice things when she gets them, so I'm hopeful. But I worry.
