To See

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements. ðŸ˜‰

What if your vision suddenly changed?

(The Tuesday "what if?" posts were all scheduled back in February. But I'm going to let them run to remind me of more carefree times from before the plague.)

  1. I'd do the obvious and go visit the eye doctor. LOL!

    1. Unless it was the eye doctor that changed your vision...

  2. What if it became x-ray vision? Every boy's dream...

  3. In what way would it change? I used to fantasize, when I was young, that I was Supergirl. Not so much X Ray vision but that telescopic version, that would be wonderful.

    1. I did not specify. (On purpose.) So, go ahead and choose telescopic vision.

  4. Well, it would depend on how it changed. If it got better, I wouldn't have to wear glasses anymore. If it got worse, then back to the eye doctor.

  5. Almost any change at my age would be unwelcome, unless it was an improvement, which isn't likely. Too scary to contemplate.

    1. It could be an improvement. I did not specify that your vision got worse.

  6. This question made me go right away to my mom. My mom created beautiful Faberge style eggs..using real eggs and she did almost always, all the interiors herself. The smaller the better from tiny birds to butterflies and even a tiny magazine rack and a cash register with the receipt on top in a goose egg(for a person retiring from a drug store). She got macular degeneration but could still do her eggs. She was working on one egg(I have it) and she went to bed for the night. The next morning, she couldn't see anything. A bit in peripheral vision but to look at you directly, you would be blank. All at once her passion of creating eggs was taken away. Horrible

    1. That is terrible, and to have it suddenly go like that. I'm sorry.

  7. It felt as if my vision had suddenly changed a couple of months back. I think, however, I had only just noticed that I needed glasses at that point. -still adjusting to the new four-eyed normal. :)

    1. And then glasses suddenly change your vision, too... (That's where this question came from, as I got a new prescription, and I'm not happy with it.)

  8. I would hope it got better as I am blind as a bat without glasses.

  9. It has, and for the bestest of bests!

  10. I have usually wondered how blind folks do it. I am the worlds worst for putting things down in places and not knowing there that is later, and being sighted I usually find it. However being blind would be a lot harder. Not sure I could do it. My vision has been changing but not suddenly. Since I am no longer a diabetic (which I am, you always are if you ever make it to that point), my eyes get better each yr. HAHA....but I guess in reply to your question, I would just have to deal with it and learn. Now if I suddenly get xray vision then ...WOW....or vision to see a long way away, wow again. I would have to adjust no matter what, I would just hope that it is adjustable, where I decide when and where.

    1. Definitely an adjustment, whether it's better or worse.

  11. My first thought was of the ophthalmologist and the optician.

But later I thought about it. If I would get more insights into this world and its inhabitants that would be interesting!

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
