Observed or Observer

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements. ðŸ˜‰

Because summer, I was watching a show on The CW called Mysteries Decoded. And this episode on Bigfoot gave me the idea for this question...

What if Bigfoot (or Yeti or any of the other cryptozoological creatures we hear about) is really a group of extraterrestrial anthropologists who are studying us humans?

  1. I'd think they were far more civilized than we are.

  3. Then why do they keep to themselves in the woods/mountains? Wouldn't they want to observe us in more of our "natural habitat" i.e. the cities since majority of people live there?

  4. They have a good sense of humour scaring the hell out of us when we decide to walk in the woods at night

    1. Oh, I can just imagine that being their intent.

  5. Why not?
In the lst Men in Black, K opens his locker to show J how the worlds are really like marbles being kicked around.

  6. They're definitely not doing a good job of not contaminating the subject they're observing, then.

  7. If they are observing us, then they probably deeply regret their decision to do so and are desperately seeking a way off this rock. Bigfoot/Yeti ran for the hills (and woods), and who knows about the rest of them. I know there are many good people out there, but they probably find most of the human race either disgusting or entertaining - and sometimes both. I know I do.

I'm not sure I played along right with this. But anyway, I listen to a podcast, and I can't think of the name of it right now, but the possibility of our cryptids as demons has been brought up before. Who's to say they're not aliens? #thetruthisoutthere

    1. There are no rules to the question, answer as you see fit.

  8. Haha...funny you should question that one when I watched a show the other day on the travel channel and the question was coming up about the same thing! So...if that is true and they are as intelligent as folks claim they are then I guess they probably sit back and laugh their hairy butts off when they write home about us!!

  9. Your question reminds me of Far side.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
