A Haunting

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements. ðŸ˜‰

What if you could suddenly see ghosts? What if those ghosts could not see you?

  1. Oh wow, interesting question. All I can think of is that scene in Ghost, where Whoopi Goldberg, who has been faking it all along, suddenly becomes a real medium and starts talking to ghosts.

    1. I wanted to turn the situation a bit, although I'm sure I'm not the first to have this idea.

  2. Hi Liz - as long as I could communicate with them ... and as long as there weren't all the ex peoples from time immemorial ... one or two I could deal with - perhaps!

If they couldn't see me ... well that's an interesting question ... one I can't answer ... cheers Hilary

  4. I like what Alex said! I think I would do the same thing. Scare them!

  5. A reverse haunting! Also, I'd rather they not be able to see me. I don't want them catching me doing something embarrassing.

  6. I wonder if I cross over, and the ghost could ask me to leave. I know all of us have the power to ask a visiting spirit to leave.

  7. Now I am looking for ghosts in my living room. I would obviously call the ghostbusters. The original cast, not the newer one.

  8. I think I'd still be freaked out even if they could not see me.

  9. Oh boy, a little scary! I would be afraid first I guess, then noticing they don't see me, teasing them? maybe...

  10. I would think that would be a funny turn of events. Me seeing them and them not seeing me then I could HAUNT them.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
