Moving Time

What if? It's the basis of many stories. We ask. We ponder. We wonder.

On Tuesdays I throw one out there. What if? It may be speculative. It may stem from something I see. It may be something I pull from the news.

Make of it what you will. If a for instance is not specified, interpret that instance as you wish. And if the idea turns into a story, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements 😉

What if you could travel in time... but it was a one-way trip?

  1. I wouldn't want to if I took my current memories with me. If I did, it would be to go back in time, but only within the years of my lifetime now. Maybe I'd make wiser choices!

  2. No, I wouldn't, especially being a woman. It wasn't really very long ago, in our country, the 50's or 60's, that women could even get a credit card without their husband signing. Not long before that, we couldn't vote, or own property, or have a right to our own children. So no, we have it so much better now, in the moment right now, than ever before, despite attempts going on to turn the clock back.

  3. No to this. There are worse places to be than 2024. What if you land in the middle of another Black Death, for example?

  5. I am happy with the present, though the past has its own charm, and many long for the times gone by. But, I don't think there is anything wrong with what we have now. What is wrong is the way we are using the conveniences we have now.

  6. Nope...I'd be curious but...nope.

  7. The uncertainty of where and which era I'd end up is too daunting.
I'll stick to the present, where I have some control and familiarity.

    Happy Friday, Liz!

  8. I'd go back to the year I married if all the wedding participants still attended. :D It remains the most fun era of my life.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
