Vacillating

I'm not sure what I want to do.

I had hoped to be done with the cardi this month, but that's not going to happen. And it's all about the edging.

When I finished the knitting portion, I had:

Then I added a bit of border:

Now I'm at the point where I think the border is going to be as chunky as I want it:

(It is a little hard to see. On this close up, the left side has one more row of single crochet than the right side does):

But I wonder. Do I want to do something more interesting with the crochet border? Or do I want the knitting (and that pattern was a challenge) to be the focus?

Frogging it at this point isn't that big of a deal. It's April. I won't really want to wear this until probably November. But do I want to frog it?

I'm just not sure. That's one of the reasons this finishing part is taking so long. (Well, that, and I've been a bit busy at work. Having kiddos in class has been tiring. It's been a year, so I just have to get used to it again.)

Ah well. I think I need a new project to distract me. Some time away might help me figure out what it is I want to do.

  1. I think the pattern of the knitting makes a nice statement, without edging being bolder. As long as it took you, show off the knitting! After you are done, you'll be able to tell when you put it on, if you want frogs or not. How does it hang without? I like frogs, but maybe this doesn't need it. It's not really for warmth anyway, right?

    1. Frogging means to rip it out (sounds like ribbit). Yeah, a bolder edging is probably not needed.

  3. I like how it is. It looks so neat and perfect. And it's not like you don't have plenty of time to decide.

  4. I like how it looks as it is. The knitting pattern is so nice that I think you want that to be the focus.

  6. I say put it away for a couple of months, and then look at this with fresh eyes. It would be a shame to frog this one.

    1. Oh, I won't frog the whole thing. Just the edging. No, the main portion of the sweater is staying as is.

  7. I love it the way it is now, but it's up to you ;)) Beautiful color, and beautiful pattern too, well done! What does "frog" means in this context?

  9. That's gorgeous! I'd leave the border and let the knitting be the focus. It's too intricate to not be the star of the show.
p.s. Used your prompt in my W post!

    1. Thanks, that helps. Now, what did I prompt? Yikes, I've forgotten.

  10. My two cents (for as little as they are worth) are to keep the plain border. I love the pattern of the cardi and the edging looks perfect with it. :)

    1. Ah, but that's the problem. I'm not sure. So I'll dither about for a while longer.
