Hunted
At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements. 😉
What if "they" came for your best friend?

I appreciate your comments.
I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.
*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.

Assuming 'they' were bad, and even if they weren't, I'd do everything in my power to stop them as my best friend is my wife.
ReplyDeleteThey could be good and then I would have been upset I wasn't included.
ReplyDeletebetty
Definitely.
ReplyDeleteI would protect my best friend in any way I would have to unless my friend was guilty of a disgusting crime like murder. If all they want to do is assimilate, take, lobotomize, experiment or kill him (and her), I would hide my friend and do anything to help them
ReplyDeleteYou're a good friend to have.
DeleteI would suspect that I were next!
ReplyDeleteCould be.
DeleteIt would really depend on what type of "they" they were.
ReplyDeleteMy best friend is my husband, who also is the family cook. I would want to know if I could go, too, if "they" was a good thing. As long as they didn't have a book with them called "To Serve Man".
ReplyDeleteYeah, that would be awkward. Cooking fellow... Oops, is that a spoiler?
Delete"They" can have him. I'll find a new best friend.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I feel describe a person as "They" or "those" isn't a good choice of word(s) I love to have a diverse friends and community of. So more then one best friend is always interesting and chance to grow.
ReplyDeleteIf "they" were mosquitoes I guess I'd be slapping the shit out of my best friend! In a loving, best friend way.. :)
ReplyDeleteAs I didn't say who "they" were...
DeleteI will include "them" in my circle of friends :-)
ReplyDeleteNot fond of your best friend?
DeleteTHEY.....are never good! I would have to make sure THEY did not get my best friend.
ReplyDeleteOthers seemed to think they could be okay. Since I didn't specify...
DeleteI would fake anger and cry as my friend was dragged away, but since it was me who actually hired "them" to forcefully take him to his surprise party, I would hop in my car to beat them there.
ReplyDeleteOooh, you're sneaky...
