What if? It's the basis of many stories. We ask. We ponder. We wonder.
On Tuesdays I throw one out there. What if? It may be speculative. It may stem from something I see. It may be something I pull from the news.
Make of it what you will. If a for instance is not specified, interpret that instance as you wish. And if the idea turns into a story, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements 😉
What if you found out an investment you made was actually a scam?
It’s a learning experience. A painful one.
ReplyDeleteHappened to a few of my clients where they lost everything and now are in a bankruptcy or a Consumer Proposal( instead of paying nothing back and having credit at the lowest like in bankruptcy, a proposal is where a person pays part of the debt back and credit is better, not great but better)
ReplyDeleteI would be very afraid. That's one of the things about aging that I dread - easier to be taken, but it could happen to anyone.
ReplyDeleteI would report it.
ReplyDeleteIt actually happened to me. Long ago. I was very young. So I took it as a lesson.
ReplyDeleteI'd be disappointed in myself for falling for it. We all know by now to be extra careful.
ReplyDeleteMy best friend experienced this. I'd be filled with a mix of frustration, anger and a sense of foolishness for being scammed.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings, Liz.
When I was in my 20s, I lost $20 in a 3-card monte game. I was on a bus. Got off at the next stop sheepish and broke. 🙃
ReplyDeleteLike Tesla stock? I wouldn't be happy, but I don't tend to invest in things that are that speculative.
ReplyDeleteI don't like to even think about that!
