A Redo

Last week I showed off some yarn for a project I'm planning. I did swatch and figure out what pattern stitch I wanted to use, but I didn't get much further than that.

Instead, I pulled out another project I've been contemplating for a while.

A few years ago, I was gifted some birthday yarn, and I knew I had to make something for me from it. I decided to make a Möbius, and I cast on

It was slow going. And I didn't really like it. (Hence, why it was slow going. When a project bores me, I don't pick it up too much, so it doesn't grow very fast.)

So, back in September, I ripped the whole thing out. It took a while as the yarn kept breaking.

The plan was to restart it with a different pattern. I picked something called Cobweb

Now I've finally gotten it started.

Because the yarn was all breaky when I ripped the last thing out, I have a lot of odds and ends that I want to use. Those will get wound in at some point. I think I'll wait to see if I enjoy making this before I commit to that.

It's kind of hard to see the stitch pattern in the photo. The yarn is very fine. But it's not hard going, and it's growing way quicker than the other iteration was.

Maybe I'll have progress to show next week. We'll see. At least it's something more than I have been doing of late.

  1. The moebius looked fascinationg (expecially when done, shown in the 2019 post), however, if it didn't keep your interest, it was best to rip it out. It's always kind of fun to rip things out, if they don't snag and break that is.

    2. Yeah, I'm all for ripping things out and repurposing the yarn for something new when it's warranted. I had to Google both spellings to figure out which one I wanted to use. Hard to keep them straight.

  2. That stitch is really pretty! I'm always impressed with all of the different stitches you use. I hope to get there someday.

    1. Oh, this stitch is simple. It's single crochet, then a fan (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc all in the same stitch) repeated across the row. Then the next row is a single crochet in the middle dc of the fan and fan in the sc from the previous round.

  3. It'll be interesting to see how it comes out.

  4. I did a yarn stash hunt before buying yarn for my temperature afghan and find a couple of wips - one an afghan I abandoned after 4 or so rows because I didn't get the instructions, and a sweater that didn't turn out that well. Both projects must be five or years old, at least. They are going to be ripped out although, alas, the yarn is wrong for my temperature project Good luck on repurposing your yarn - life is too short to make a project that doesn't make you happy.

    1. Yup, better to frog and use the yarn somewhere where it'll be appreciated.

    1. Nothing wrong with that. Yarn is way more forgiving.

    1. I'll have to explain more if I write about this scarf again. A Möbius is a thing with one side and one edge.
