What if? It's the basis of many stories. We ask. We ponder. We wonder.
On Tuesdays I throw one out there. What if? It may be speculative. It may stem from something I see. It may be something I pull from the news.
Make of it what you will. If a for instance is not specified, interpret that instance as you wish. And if the idea turns into a story, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements 😉
What if the sun didn't rise at the expected time? (I'm not talking about it being a stormy day and you just don't see the sun behind the clouds. This would be there's no sun when it should be there.)
Have you seen the series Into the DArk? It's kind of OK. Something about the sun makes them sick or die, can't recall, saw two seasons. So the people on this one plane seem to be among a very small number of survivors, and keep flying just in the dark. Finding more fuel and food at various airfields where they land.
ReplyDeleteNo, I missed that show.
DeleteGulp. It was nice knowing you.
ReplyDeleteFear would set in for sure! Questions would be, is it a once in a life time thing? Cause we all know the world can't exist without the sun.
ReplyDeleteTrue. Notice I didn't specify a why.
DeleteI'd be expecting the Rapture followed soon by Judgement Day. Because things are going down at that point!
ReplyDeleteIt would be troubling.
DeleteOne word: fear! And yes, there's been at least one SF book or story written with this premise. I wish I could remember the title.
ReplyDeleteI know I'll never come up with a what if that hasn't been done somewhere else before.
DeleteI'd panic. Wake up my son. Hope the television or phone for news still worked to find out what was going on. Wonder why the scientists hadn't warned us if the earth's rotation was going to slow. Wonder what was blocking the sun.
ReplyDeleteIt would be scary.
DeleteI’d be looking for Rod Serling. It would be most unsettling
ReplyDeleteI don't think he did this one, but it does kind of echo the one where Earth was getting closer and closer to the sun.
DeleteIt'd be scary. I'd worry about how it would affect our already extreme weather.
ReplyDeleteIt would be the end of life as we know it. Or perhaps just a reboot of this Matrix we are in.
ReplyDeleteI'm toying with a virtual reality question, but I'm not sure how to phrase it.
