Freevee

As we are on vacation from school, this week I'm on my "summer schedule", which means it's What to Watch Wednesday.

While I was plotting out my posts for my two weeks of winter break, I did a mental inventory of what I've been watching of late. And I couldn't think of one show to recommend. It's not that I haven't been watching anything, but nothing sticks out as something that I really want to write about.

But while thinking through what I've been watching, I realized that there's a streaming channel that keeps pulling my attention. And just in case you haven't heard of it, I thought I'd bring it to your attention.

Freevee is a free streaming channel that is allied with Amazon Prime Video. At least, that's what brought it to my attention. Well, that and the fact that it was the streaming channel that had the reboot of Leverage. (Did anyone watch Leverage back in the day? Mostly the same cast and the same type of show.)

Once I started looking, I found all sorts of TV movies from the '90s that I remembered. A quick perusal of shows includes Columbo, Dallas, Perry Mason, Night Court, Bewitched, and The Waltons. There were plenty of newer-ish shows, too, but I thought I'd hit more classic TV for that list.

The downside is because it's free, there are commercials. And I don't think there's a paid tier that will let you skip them. But with all the paid streaming channels out there, it's nice to find one that you don't have to pay for.

Have you found Freevee? Any shows you care to recommend?

  1. I've never heard of it until now. I asked my son, and he said it's downloaded on the TV, but he has never looked at what it offers! I watched all you mention, but The Waltons. My friend in high school did, so I saw it when I was at her house. I didn't really care for Bewitched. Night Court was a bit more mature. HA! I doubt I missed a Columbo, or any of the crime shows it alternated with. Take care.

    1. And I just scratched the surface. If you're looking for something to watch, it's worth checking out.

  2. I have watched on Freevee before. It has been a while, though. I love it when I find 90s shows on streaming channels.

    1. It's a great blast from the past when you're feeling nostalgic.

  3. Freevee is also the name of the network in Stephen King's book The Running Man where people compete on deadly gameshows in a capitalist dystopia. Kind of seems a little on the nose these days.

  4. I've never heard of Freevee. I don't have much time for TV, but if I ever have a moment, I may check it out.

    1. It's useful when you're stuck for something to watch. But if you're not watching anything, then I'd say check out my latest knitting post, but that was a Covid update, so...

  5. We've watched Freevee from time to time. I tuned in because of the Leverage reboot (always got a kick out of the original series), but I haven't watched the latest episodes yet.

  6. I haven't heard of freevee but I am always wishing I had more time to watch the streaming service we do have - I go to bed early and read once the kids are asleep while hubby likes to watch something, so he makes the most of our streaming services, haha! Otherwise it's the family pizza and movie night on the weekend where the kids pick a movie for us to watch and not much else!

Hope you are having a good start to the new year :)

    1. Nothing wrong with not watching a lot of TV. I've just had a lot of time to this vacation.

    1. Oh yes. And it's on season 2. No Timothy Hutton, but he's been "replaced" by Noah Wylie.

  8. I haven't found Freevee, but I'm sure going to scout it out tonight! It sounds perfect. Thanks, Liz. You've kickstarted my 2023 very nicely!

  9. I do know about Freevee and I did watch Leverage. I like Timothy Hutton. I'll check out Noah Wylie. He was a hottie back in the day. :) - I list the shows I'm streaming on the right side of my blog and where they're streaming from. I'm almost 100% into all things British. - A show I used to really like is Revenge. I don't know if it's streaming anywhere but that was really good. I think I'm going to try and watch Yellowstone but it sounds too much like life in Idaho. Lol.. I did watch Longmire. That was good.

    1. Oh yes, I miss Longmire. It was one of the first things I watched when I finally got Netflix.

I would like to learn how to stream, I'm clueless even how to set it up.

  12. I used to watch Leverage - loved it. I've seen the reboot on Freevee advertised, but haven't taken the time to get into it yet.

Lately, we just finished Wednesday. I enjoyed it. Quirky. We're also going through Designated Survivor, which you may have watched when it was actually on. Our current joint sitcom is "Never Have I Ever" which is fun. Hope you find something you enjoy! Most of the time, if I'm watching alone, it's old stuff or reality TV like Bake-Off or Drinkmasters.

    1. I did see Designated Survivor. It started off good, but devolved later on. I've been tempted to try Wednesday.

I think I like the reboot better than the original Leverage. It feels more cohesive. Although, I'd have to watch the original again to see if the memory holds up. (The original is also streaming on Freevee.)

  15. I haven't watched Freevee. I may be confusing it with Freeform, which I have watched a little. Who knows - sometimes I feel like the Bruce Springsteen's 1992 song "57 Channels and Nothin' On" is still as relevant today as it was in 1992. Right now, sadly, I'm getting my entertainment (if I can call it that because it's quite sad) from what is happening in the House of Representatives.

    1. Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on that, too. Freevee is a streaming channel. Freeform has a streaming option, I think, or maybe you can catch shows through Hulu. Yeah, so many channels, it's hard to keep up.

  16. I'm sitting here looking at my channels on Prime and I saw a really good show to recommend on Freevee. Bosch and the Bosch Legacy. Lol..

  17. I never heard of that show. I have not heard of Freevee?? To be honest, I have no clue how to hook up a free streaming channel on my TV.

    1. Is your TV connected to the Internet? If you have a smart TV, you should be able to input your WiFi password (it's probably in settings) and voila. Connected. Then there'll be a place where you can upload channels like uploading apps to your phone.
