The Worst Hero

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements. ðŸ˜‰

I've been watching Legion again...

What if your sworn enemy (or the story's villain) is the only one who can prevent an impending major disaster?

(Some specifics for this case: By sworn enemy, I mean a person who has done something horrible, like murdering your sibling. And by impending major disaster, I mean something huge, like a plague that could kill a large number--millions--of people.)

  1. Well, I think I would try to be grateful to him/her, but not sure if I could replace the feelings of them being my sworn enemy to one of friendship. Still would have animosity toward them I think.

  2. I'd have to suck it up and work with him.

    1. That would be for the best. Although, hard, I'd expect.

  3. I would let them stop the disaster...and then kill them

    1. That's probably the best plan. If you can get them in that narrow window.

  4. Well, if it were my sworn enemy and they knew they were my sworn enemy then to get them to stop disaster I would probably have to do a lot of ass kissing, lying and making promises to get them to do the right thing!

  5. If my sworn enemy is the only one to stop the disaster, then I hope she does it pronto without drama.

  6. I'm with Alex. I would have to suck it up and work with him or her. But no friendship. After the awful thing is averted, back to being an enemy.

  7. Well, rather grudgingly I'd accept his help.

    1. Might kind of have to (although some other commenters thought not).

    1. Feel free to ignore the spam. (How is my blog "crispy"?) They've been hitting me every other day for a week or so now. As soon as I get online I delete.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
