Period three. I was back at the continuation high school. A student bounded into class. High energy. And he told everyone why...
"I did so much Ecstasy, I haven't slept in three days...
"I am so high...
"I'm, like, addicted, but it's so expensive that I can't get addicted..."
To which another student replied, "I was there last week..."
My reaction:
Dude. How does one respond to that? I'm right there with you in the reaction.
ReplyDeleteExactly.
DeleteHmmm. I wonder if he were actually high or just showing off...
ReplyDeleteIn that scenario do you just sort of ignore what the student has said until he or she presents as a problem in class?
That's a good point. I rather think he was telling the truth, but who knows?
DeleteI wasn't sure what to do. Do I report him? I did let the teacher know. And I left it up to him whether the administration needed to know.
What a thing to be proud of.
ReplyDeleteCan you turn a kid in like that?
Wowsers. What an unusual situation. Thats one kid with lots of problems who needs a wake up call.
ReplyDeleteGood reaction. Of course they're proud of breaking the rules.
ReplyDeleteIs it wrong to say I'd like to try that crap? I won't though, because I'm married to an honorary Scout. :P Be well!
ReplyDeleteTry what?
DeleteOh my gosh....that is terrible. Kids......oh my.
ReplyDeleteSad to say that kids getting into drugs is not something that surprises me.
DeleteKids and drugs are the bain of a secondary teacher's life. Hope the kid is ok
ReplyDeleteI haven't been at the school in over a week, so I have no idea.
DeleteOh my ...
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's really all there is to say.
DeleteNope, I'd be at a loss for words.
ReplyDeleteAnd that doesn't happen often with me.
Sad, so sad. I would have been at a total loss. I hope he survives his teenaged years. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteAnd with his brain fully intact. I've heard about how Ecstasy leaves holes in the brain, at least, holes on brain scans. And cognitive impairment. Scary stuff.
