High

Period three. I was back at the continuation high school. A student bounded into class. High energy. And he told everyone why...

"I did so much Ecstasy, I haven't slept in three days...

"I am so high...

"I'm, like, addicted, but it's so expensive that I can't get addicted..."

To which another student replied, "I was there last week..."

My reaction:

  1. Dude. How does one respond to that? I'm right there with you in the reaction.

  2. Hmmm. I wonder if he were actually high or just showing off...
In that scenario do you just sort of ignore what the student has said until he or she presents as a problem in class?

    1. That's a good point. I rather think he was telling the truth, but who knows?

I wasn't sure what to do. Do I report him? I did let the teacher know. And I left it up to him whether the administration needed to know.

  3. What a thing to be proud of.
Can you turn a kid in like that?

  6. Is it wrong to say I'd like to try that crap? I won't though, because I'm married to an honorary Scout. :P Be well!

    1. Sad to say that kids getting into drugs is not something that surprises me.

  8. Kids and drugs are the bain of a secondary teacher's life. Hope the kid is ok

    1. I haven't been at the school in over a week, so I have no idea.

  9. Nope, I'd be at a loss for words.
And that doesn't happen often with me.

  10. Sad, so sad. I would have been at a total loss. I hope he survives his teenaged years. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

    1. And with his brain fully intact. I've heard about how Ecstasy leaves holes in the brain, at least, holes on brain scans. And cognitive impairment. Scary stuff.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
