Pick Your Pain

What if? It's the basis of many stories. We ask. We ponder. We wonder.

On Tuesdays I throw one out there. What if? It may be speculative. It may stem from something I see. It may be something I pull from the news.

Make of it what you will. If a for instance is not specified, interpret that instance as you wish. And if the idea turns into a story, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements 😉

What if you had a splitting headache, but the remedy that would help upsets your stomach?

  1. Welcome to my world. I get bad headaches, and sometimes I can’t take Motrin or Tylenol because I’m afraid it will make me throw up.

  2. I might rather stay near to toilet than have a bad headache. Unless the stomach upset was vomiting, then I'll take the headache. Then again, I've had migraines. So... I'll keep the headache, I can just go to bed until it's gone. I have that luxury.

  3. That's a tough one, I think being nauseated is worse than a headache, so I would do some stretches in case the headache was muscular, which for me they normally are...maybe a hot shower. Sometimes a cool compress to the eyes/forehead help a headache.

  4. I had migraines from time to time when I was younger so I've experienced both at the same time. It's not a great choice. If it was a regular headache, I would choose it over an upset stomach. Maybe.

  5. What a choice. I'll pick neither.

  6. Depends on how bad you want the headache gone, I guess.....then again, do you really wish to trade one issue for another. I was up against that just this week with the allergies. Head was a mess, congestion, stuffy nose, ears, itchy eyes etc....the Sudafed was drying me out, so I switched to Mucinex. Prob with that, it made me sleepy and I slept for nights and days.....I decided that I was going with the stuffy if need me. Depends on which is the worst of least you wish to treat.

  7. If I had to choose between an upset stomach and a splitting headache, I'd pick the upset stomach any day. At least with that, I can still function somewhat normally. A pounding headache just knocks me out completely.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
