As an adult who often interacts with teenagers, I consider it my duty to report back to you when I notice a trend. And lately I've noticed that the kiddos have all started doing something kind of weird--they now wear star stickers on their faces.
These are not large, maybe a half centimeter across. Usually they're yellow. And they can be anywhere on their faces. Usually girls, but I've seen some boys wear them too.
Curious, I Googled it. And it turns out that they are pimple patches. Oh, that makes sense.
Here's an article I found about them. If you search for them, you'll find they sell them on Amazon, at Walmart, and many other places.
So, if you encounter teens and you see little stars on their faces, now you know what they are.
Wish we had those back in the day …
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
DeleteOk...sounds better but what happens when they peel them off?
ReplyDeleteThey are pimple patches. They are made to help heal the pimple quicker, more like a band-aid.
DeleteI have not encountered those yet (not that I interact with many teenagers). I wonder if those actually work.
ReplyDeletethecontemplativecat here.. What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteIt is.
DeleteA few years late for me! Alas.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteOh wow...thanks for sharing that info, but really is that defending the purpose of hiding a yucky pimple? Like saying, good morning, I have a pimple on my face. The thing here is hoodies. I don't care how freak'n hot it is, they wear hoodies. My grands don't even jeans, active wear long pants...
ReplyDeleteNot just there, hoodies are a thing here, too. And then they get mad if you suggest (when it's 90 degrees outside) that they take the hoodie off rather than be hot.
DeleteFirst thing might of come to my mind. Would of yellow star that the Jews had were in Europe under Hitler rule.
ReplyDeleteLet kiddos be stars!
ReplyDeleteSo, instead of fellow students seeing you have a pimple, they know you have a pimple under the star. Okay. Reminded me of a woman who worked at Woolworth's when I was growing up. She worked in the back part of the store, where the pets were. She had a small Band-Aid on the side of her nose. Always. For decades. Other students in high school noticed it. No one ever said anything to her of course, it was different in the 60s and 70s! Nothing under there would have been nearly as interesting as that Band-Aid!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that that's what they were for until I looked it up. No one really mentions acne, really, anyway.
DeleteNothing like teenage acne
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I remember it well.
DeleteStill everyone will know that there is a pimple!
ReplyDeleteFun way of covering up what causes embarrassment, are these stars only yellow? It's like children's bandages, colorful and cute ;)
ReplyDeleteAs I mentioned on my TT, I wear the patches, too, but not to hide the zit. Mine are flesh colored and less conspicuous than that big blob of Clearsil I wore back in the day. And they help stop me from squeezing. PS You're right; in an infinite universe of topics, we both landed on pimple patches this week!
ReplyDeleteFunny that we both hit the topic at practically the same time.
