Local Celebrity

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements. ðŸ˜‰

So, this week's question is based on a true story. Sort of.

What if you learned your next door neighbor was the parent of a rock star?

(No, not me. I'm not telling you who I know who has the neighbor, and I'm not divulging the name of the rock star, primarily because I can never remember it...)

  1. Oh, I remember this tale. :) And think I recall who it was (from band Avenged Sevenfold, I believe). I'd probably say nothing but keep an extra watch on the neighborhood and just *happen* to check the mail when he came to visit. Heh...

  2. That would be so awesome to live next door to a member of Avenged Sevenfold! Love that band. I wouldn't bug them, but hopefully I'd drop enough hints about how much I love the band that I would get to meet that member.

  3. I'd bring a pan of brownies over to their house.

  4. I'd treat them like any other next door neighbor. Rock stars visiting parents deserve their privacy! If mom or dad told me, and I was a fan, I'd probably say "hello," and let them know how much their music meant to me. Once. Then ignore them, or just wave if I happened to be outside when they visited.

I've "met" a scant number of "celebrities" in public places, and didn't mention I knew who they were. Just talked to them like any average stranger met under the same circumstances.

Now, Avenged Sevenfold? Never heard of them... her... him... it!

    1. It's a band. Heavy metal. Sounds like a good plan.

    2. Yeah. I like the way Lisa thinks. ~grin~ A one time remark would be plenty. Heh...

  5. Wouldn't probably matter either way. I would just hope they are good neighbors :)

  6. Hm, I'd be pretty surprised. Two of them are pretty close to my age, so it'd be impressive that they had a kid who became a rock star at such a young age.

  7. I will be tempted to talk to him to see if I can write about what it means to be the parent of a rock star. :-)

  8. If it were my current ones I'd be pretty surprised (one would have an unknown kid and the others some super talented 18 year olds lol) but really wouldn't care.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
