The Fastest Jellyfish

I've been making amigurumi jellyfish for almost two years now. I've written numerous posts about them, including inventorying how many I'd made just over a year ago.

Because I've made so many, I have a routine when it comes to constructing the things. If I push myself, I can get one finished in a week. (Not that the work really takes a week, but I've got a day job and other things that must be done. If I just crocheted all day...)

By the time you read this, I will have completed four in two weeks. For me, that's lightening fast.

(And the "lightening fast" only happened because I was doing the crocheting while at the day job. Sometimes I luck out and have classes that only need me to monitor, like having a student teacher or having AP classes after they've taken the AP test. I have to do something to keep my brain and hands busy or I'll be struggling to stay awake.)

As of "press time", however, I only had two complete...

...with two more just waiting for a face and stuffing...

If you follow me on Instagram (I'm @ZiziRho), you'll have already seen some of my progress...

(And I'll post pictures of the last two on Instagram once I finish them.)

That'll bring my grand total number of completed jellyfish up to 29. (I'm keeping a list.)

Wow, that's one short of 30. I'd better not say that too loudly. Someone will surely request number 30 before too long.

Apologies for being behind in responding to comments. It appears that Blogger has developed a glitch and is no longer sending me email notifications for blog comments. (Is anyone else noticing this? Or is it just me?) Hopefully, the glitch will be repaired soon.

    1. I can't either ;) Although, it helps when I can do them while working :)

  2. Hi Liz - I love your jelly fish ... so well done and I'm sure you'll have lots of orders over time.

Yes I'm having the same problem .. ie needing to check in to the blog to see if people have commented ... is one problem, to see if I don't want a comment left there (spam like or nothing relevant) then those don't appear ... and I guess we'll always have to check in our comments section on blogger. My email link is still active and re-did it to make sure ... I'll be back to see if anyone else makes a suggestion ... cheers and have a peaceful Memorial Day - Hilary

    1. Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I think it's a Google problem right now.

  3. They're so cute! Still, I mean. Though it's kind of weird to see them without their heads on.

The stupid glitch seems very widespread, and no response from google on when (or if!) they're going to fix it.

    1. Yeah, it sounds like it's probably connected to the "spring cleaning" they did which did away with OpenID for comments.

I should post more pics of the jellyfish in progress. I'm used to seeing them in pieces before they're finished.

  4. I'm glad you postto your blog (since A-Z) I haven't seen them before. They are very cool!

I read on one blog (and I have *no idea* if this is correct) it was something to do with the new EU data protection laws. As I am not up to speed with them I don't know if that is true or not. Can't quite figure out how that would relate but ???

    1. Likely. They probably don't want email addresses getting out. It seems like everything has been impacted by that GDPR thing.

  5. They are so adorable!

Have you checked your Blogger settings? Mine is set to email comments to me but I really need to switch it off since I already get close to 300 emails a day.

    1. Mine has been set to email comments to me for years now. I double checked, and that's still the setting. But the emails have stopped.

  6. I don't think it is you. I haven't been receiving email, either. As one of your other commenters pondered, I wonder if it is due to that new EU regulation. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

    1. It may be the GDPR. It might be that Google did some "spring cleaning", eliminating some features. That probably messed with the email thing.

  7. They're so cute! So has anyone asked for number 30 yet?

I'm not getting comment notifications either. I'm glad to know it's not just me. I was trying to figure out how I had messed that up.

    1. Nope, no 30 yet.

The first thing I did was check my settings. When they were still the same, I immediately assumed it was a them problem.

    1. So it's held up? I wonder how well they do, and you've had yours for almost two years now, right?

  9. Don't stop on 30! In Chinese wisdom (?) 9 is the best to end on. If you even it out, that means the end. Something like, allow room for growth? The Forbidden City has 9,999 rooms for this reason. Men give flowers in odd numbers like 9 or 19.

But adorable! Have you ever made a mobile out of them?

    1. No, I have not tried a mobile. They don't really last in my possession.

      As for a #30, I'm sure as soon as I do one, there'll be a request for a #31.

  10. I still can't get over how cute they are.

  11. These are so cute and I love them as they are in my favourite colour(s)blue. You will make 30 soon enough and will be on your way to 50

  12. They're heart warmers, they are, Liz. Have I said that before? The same thing is happening with me regarding the email notification. Google had changed my comments setting so only people on Google could comment. Silly, Google.

    1. Yeah, that was one of their "spring cleaning" things. They got rid of OpenID due to "low usage". I'm contemplating going to Discus or maybe Google+ comments.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
