The Spy Among Us
At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements ;)
What if you discovered your spouse (or significant other) was a spy?
Have I done this one before? I think I've done this one before. Or some minor variation thereof. Ah well...

I appreciate your comments.
I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.
*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.

Wasn't that a movie too? Mr. and Mrs. Smith? I think I was just hope that they weren't out to eliminate me :)

I'm sure there were several.
DeleteI'd want to see all his cool spy gadgets. :-)
ReplyDeleteThose would be fun.
DeleteAs long as it all worked out like in the movie True Lies, I'd be all right with it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would be bothered to discover my husband was a spy!
ReplyDeleteGood to know.
DeleteI would be more interested in what would ever make me want to get married. That's far more surprising.
ReplyDeleteLike Alex said...if it was similar to Mr. and Mrs. Smith...then I'm totally down!
ReplyDeleteGood to know.
DeleteHow it all played out would depend on the spouse of the spy. Some might be okay with it and simply keep the secret. Others might confront their spouse, and others might do a little digging first...I think I'd be among the latter.
ReplyDeleteI'd try to get them to tell me about all the things they know. ;)
ReplyDeleteOf course
DeletePerhaps it might depend who he was spying for. I recently saw a new show about a spy who had two families, one in his native country and one in the United States. I would want to know the truth, the entire truth, and my actions would depend on what the truth is. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteGood point. I think we can assume not the country you're in, but I didn't specify in the question, so you can choose whichever way suits.
DeleteTo be blunt-I would want to hit the sheets with him even more:)
ReplyDeleteAs long as he looked like Brad Pitt I wouldn't mind :)
ReplyDeleteI doubt many of them do.
DeleteBahaha! to the above comment:) I think that's a great what if question. I love movies like this!
ReplyDeleteThere have been a few, haven't there?
DeleteI would think to myself, "how cool" and try to see if they would let me play with any of the gadgets.
