After Christmas Projects

Christmas ended, and that's when I had to ramp up the crochet. You see, not only did I put off starting my Christmas knitting, I also put off a birthday present.

HapkidoKid's birthday is December 26th.

Bad timing on his part, really.

He got it on New Year's Eve...

I was worried it wouldn't fit. I was wrong. (The pattern I used is here. I ended up making it a bit smaller than was written.)

Then for Christmas I received a skein of Malabrigo Merino Worsted Yarn. And because the skein was in orange, that meant I had to make something for myself...

Just in time for our cold snap. (Which might be over by the time this post goes live.) This pattern is called Calorimetry, and it was pretty easy to knit.

And now...

Now I've got time and I'm not sure what I'm going to make. I'm sure I'll come up with something.

  1. I really like the headband, and the color. It would be good for a base layer on day like today when the wind chill is below zero and I don't want to leave the house but have to.

    Happy New Year!

  2. I like the hats, both colors are great ones! Maybe that should be my new year resolution to learn how to crochet.

  3. Recently I read about a designer on Etsy that is making like $10,000 a month. I immediately thought of you because she does the same kind of knitting things that you do. There's apparently some serious money to be made out there! Mine that green, Liz!

  4. Poor kid, born on the 26th. I'm sure he didn't know what he was in for when he came out that day. Nice gift, though. And I love the orange. I wish I had something like that about now!

  5. I love the crocheted cap. I attempted the Calorimetry, but for some reason I had a problem following the pattern. I might try it again. You did a nice job on yours.

  6. Poor kid having a birthday on Boxing Day. Lucky kid having you to make hats for him. I heard a really bad cold snap is going to hit the U.S. Something like the Polar Vortex last year?

    1. Since we in the US don't know what Boxing Day is, I don't think he's too concerned.

As for the cold snap, that's for those who live in places that have real weather. We don't even get snow.

  7. The pattern on the first one is cool and the colour on the second is really pretty-Autumn is calling. We have a balmy -12 C right now:)
