In Dreams

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements.

What if muses do whisper stories to us in our dreams?

  1. That would be great but I think mine hasn't caught up to the fact that I've lost my hearing on one side so she'll NEED TO YELL!

  2. She'd be wasting her time as I hardly ever remember my dreams.

  3. They'd be very confused muses, because my dreams make little sense.
And, if they are whispering anything interesting, they need to be clear, so I can remember later. I'm sure it's the same with us all, you wake up and think you'll remember that great dream, but go back to sleep and it's gone.

    1. My dreams make little sense as well. I suppose we have to find that nugget of a story in and amongst the other crazy.

  4. I like this. Could be a very fun tale. :) My dreams once inspired stories but of late reflect real life. Ugh... Sometimes I later wonder if the more realistic events really happened to the point of asking my husband. lol

  5. When I had work problems, I would think about the questions that I wanted to solve just before I went to sleep and sometimes the next day, something would fall into place.

  6. They must hate my guts because, in the past month I have had nightmares of black spiders all over the walls, to watching a creepy serial killer rape and behead the woman..geez! WTF is wrong with me?? I also keep going back to this same pretty village that is full of neat little boutiques.

    1. I've had those kinds of dreams, too. One wonders why our subconscious is so twisted.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
