U.S. Citizenship Quiz

In honor of the 4th of July, I'm doing a random quiz on Thursday. I've been saving this one for just this occasion...

U.S. Citizenship Test Sample Questions

This is not the actual citizenship test that those hoping to become naturalized citizens take. It's a sampling of the questions. But for our purposes, it works. (Apparently only one in three Americans can pass it per this article.)

(Apologies that this post is U.S. centric. For those of you who aren't in the U.S. (or who would rather have something cute and easy), here's a happy puppies quiz.)

Type in the answers in the box at the top. Don't worry about going in order. The correct answer will find its correct box. Incorrect answers sit there.

Let me know how you did. (I missed one. The last one. Feel free to gloat if you know it.)

  1. That is one great quiz! I think I passed, but I struggled with a couple of the questions. In fact, I cheated and looked up the answers. Now I know who was president during WWI and I know the number of Reps in the House! I used to know all of this, but I'm rusty. Thanks.

  2. Ran out of time but I got 60%. I wonder how will our elected officals would of done.

  3. 100%. Boom.
GLOAT ON...James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay...GLOAT OFF
Still, only missing one? That is outstanding.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I narrowed it down to two answers for how many amendments. I guessed correctly.

  4. I got 10 out of the 25 (correct = Q1,2,7,9,11, 14, 18, 19, 20, 23 ) - but considering I'm an Aussie I'm pretty happy with that. I knew my geography and general politics, but the really detailed or historical questions I didn't do so well on.

Did much better with the puppies. 100% in 18 seconds =)

  5. James Madison. Woot. I suck at these kinds of quiz formats as I work better being able to jump around from question to question. I would certainly fail the citizenship test without properly studying first, I must admit.

    1. You can totally jump around from question to question. The correct answer populates to where it goes, so you can work in whatever order you like.

  6. Ran out of time. I knew most of the answers.

  7. I got 15/25. There just wasn't enough time! I would have gotten more if there was more time allotted. I saw the news article today about how many new citizens took their oath of citizenship today to become Americans. I am doing a shout out for my dad who came over from Poland and became a citizen way back in the 1950s when he was eligible to do so. He took I'm sure a similar test.

    1. Just remember you don't have to go in order. Good luck.

  10. Got 23 of 25. Cheated and asked my husband (a political junkie) for the Chief Justice's name just because I got frustrated. The other one I didn't get was the year of the writing of the Constitution. I did get the last one (authors of the Federalist papers) but it took a bit.

    1. It'll take just last names, too. If that helps.

  11. I got 80%. I always tell people if I had to take the citizenship test I wouldn't make it. Now I'm going to share that test on FB. Very cool.

  13. Fun! I only got 14, but 5 of the questions I hadn't even seen before time ran out. The whole quiz didn't fit on my computer screen, so there was a lot of scrolling between typing. Still, not stellar.

    1. I had a bit of that issue, too. And then if the internet is slow... So, not ideal. We'll blame it on technical issues.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
