Plodding Along

I haven't made a whole lot of progress on the pillowcase...

...although it's coming along.

But, the other day I was checking my Etsy shop (which is just patterns right now), and I saw an image for a pattern. I clicked, and now I'm obsessed.

Because of copyright concerns, I won't post a pic, but if you click on this link, you'll see it. Go to the second "image" and it's a video of various iterations of the design. (If you don't want to click the link, it's crocheted ear cuffs that look like leaves or butterflies or lacy things.)

I have absolutely no use for these things, and I doubt I'd ever actually wear them, but still I want. That's a reasonable price for a pattern, and it doesn't look like it would be too difficult to do.

I'll hem and haw for a while. It'll likely be a couple months before I jump in and do it. (Although, if someone wants them, I would totally make them for you. The pattern writer says people can sell the finished product so long as we credit her as the designer. Just let me know...)

At least I have something to keep my hands busy while I work up the energy to start something new.

That's the pillow this piece is going to go on. I hope I got the math right and it's wide enough. (In person it looks about right.)

  1. It’s pretty, but I don’t see me wearing anything like that. I have a few metal earmuffs that I bought to wear to the Renaissance Faire. But other than that ….

    1. Yeah, they're completely useless. But so cool...

    1. Ear wires. It's a metal cuff that they're crocheted on. (I had the exact same question, so I followed some links.)

  3. The super thick yarn is being used! It looks so soft. I want to squeeze it.

  4. The pattern you linked to is - interesting? What I thought of is the NY Fairie Festival, which used to be held each year in a small town about 30 miles from where I live (never went myself), and they are holding it for the first time since COVID this June. I think those earmuffs would be perfect to wear to that.

    1. Yes, that's exactly the sort of venue those would be perfect for. I don't know why I like these odd sorts of things, but I do.

  5. I think you should do that project for fun. You might decide to create something new that you really like after trying it.

  6. Pretty....I hate when I am working on something and I get sidetracked by something else to try, but that is my life. So many unfinished projects. I have not crocheted anything this yr. At this time last yr I was into my second afghan. LOL...I actually made four and finished moms for Amber. I did some scarfs that are still in the gift box for having on hand if I need one during the winter months. I did want to start a temperature blanker in Jan. but then again, I wanted to start one Jan 2022 also....maybe next Jan.

    1. You can start a temperature blanket any time. Why not do it birthday to birthday? As for sidetracked, there's a reason my seven (and a half) year cardi took me seven and a half years to complete.

  7. They look good on the young model. I could see a fairy set on a little girl.

  8. I'm liking the pillow case. Those ear attachments are interesting but I would never wear them. I bet you could make some cool ones

    1. Yeah, I'd never wear them, either. But I still want them...
