Blue Roads?

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements.
😉

My father said this to me the other day, and I thought it applied...

What if our roads weren't made of black asphalt?

  1. Well, I guess they all could be concrete....or roads, or dirt or....whatever.

  2. White might show the dirt more though.

  3. Anything but black would get too dirty.

  4. I think roads have always been made with cars and trucks in mind. It'd be interesting what would happen if everyone started using something else entirely.

  5. All roads lead to Rome...the Romans paved their roads with stone, and the roads lasted forever,

  6. Well, they could be made of pink asphalt and painted with black lines. Or neon green. That would be so much more colorful.

  7. I remember green roads in both Florida and Virginia from years ago. The Florida green may have been from bleaching (just speculation). I also remember cobblestone streets from my early 50s/60s childhood in New York City. Not fun to walk on. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

  8. I'm a fan of dirt roads with woods on either side. :)

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
