Red Phone Holster

The thing I was swatching last week. . .

. . .is finished.

I made a long strip of star stitch. . .

. . .folded it in half. . .

. . .crocheted around the edges, "seamed" up the sides, and a bit added to the top. . .

. . .to create a phone holster.

When I go walking, I use an app on my phone to track how long and how far I go. I have a phone "purse" that I made for my previous phone, but it's kind of awkward to use, so I'd been planning on making a new one.

After covering the earbuds cord, I realized that this yarn would be perfect. [The yarn was a Christmas present from my brother two (?) years ago. It was from a "mystery box" from this seller on Etsy, the colorway (which I looked for, but it doesn't appear to still be in stock) called 50 Shades of Love.] So, I started playing, and this is what I came up with.

The pictures are awful, but it's too hot to set up my lightbox. I'll get better pics another time. And I can make this better, so there's probably a redo in my future. But for the moment, I like it.

It'll do what it's intended for. And that's all I need for the moment.

  2. Never underestimate the value of something just doing what it's intended to do!

  3. Looks good to me! I can't imagine being hot now, as autumn temperatures are hovering around the forties and fifties here. My teal colored fingerless gloves are keeping my hands warm, by the way. :) Be well!

    1. Yesterday when I was taking pictures, it was about 90 F here. But considering how it was 102 F on Wednesday, that was a nice cool down. Glad the gloves are working out.

  7. Too hot? Want to cool down, visit New York State! Our trees are turning, too. I investigated the Etsy site you linked to. I've never treated myself to that kind of luxury yarn. But it sure is tempting.

    1. I wouldn't have bought it for myself. It was a gift.

    1. I made something similar years ago, but this makes it easier to get out and put away while walking.

  12. Hey, that's cool! I love it! I've never even thought to make myself a phone holster and I need to. I walk quite a bit and always with a cross body purse. It's okay but not very handy. This is really cool.

    1. Yeah, there's something about that strap across your body. . . I find I make things for my phone and my ereader. And my lip balm. And my water bottle. . .
