What I Knit

There are all sorts of ways to make bags with knitting. I chose to do something a bit different.

Step 1: Knit a long, rectangular piece of fabric.

Step 2: Edge the finished piece in crochet. (My favorite, the crab stitch.)

Step 3: Knit a small loop so the bag can hook on things, and attach.

What it looks like at this stage...

Step 4: Line it. (Really, this is optional. I didn't need to line it, but I just kind of wanted to.)

Step 5: Whip stitch up the bottom and side, leaving an opening at the top.

And there you have it, all ready to hang and hold drumsticks...

Ask me to make this at a different time, and I'd probably do something completely different. This was what I was in the mood to make right now.

What are you in the mood to do right now?

  1. It came out really nice! I'm sure your nephew will like it! I am in the mood right now to play with grandson (but it won't happen yet).

  3. Very cool.

I'm in the mood to create a shell box. I've gathered a bunch of wee shells from a local beach...just need a plain, wood box in order to get started!

    1. I think I saw those boxes at Michael's. Last I heard, they were doing curbside pickup.

  4. That's so cool looking. I'm totally not surprised you put some orange in there somewhere. It does seem to be your most-used color.

    1. It was per nephew's request. I never would have thought of it on my own.

  7. I bet nephew will be happy with that. Clever idea to include the hook. It looks fab, Liz.

  8. I am in the mood to lay around and do nothing. Sadly this has become common during this month. I really think I've been using up my writing energies on this AtoZ thing. I'll have to cut back my blogging in May.

    1. Yeah, A to Z is kind of all consuming. That's one of the reasons I'm not officially doing it this year. But, of course, the PANDEMIC might have something to do with that, too ;)

  9. That's wonderful! So many possibilities, too, using the basic premise. Bet the recipient was delighted with his drumstick holder.

  11. I'm in the mood to try to crochet a face mask, but the patterns I see either call for coffee filters or one side being a piece of fabric. That makes sense, but, I'm not a sewer. Maybe I'll try making one of those crocheted back of the head holders that get the elastic off your ears, instead. Or, better yet, work on one of my WIPS.

    1. The mask I knit, I whip stitched some fabric to the back. It doesn't have to be neat on the non-public side.
