The Ancestors


At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements. ðŸ˜‰

One day I sat down to write a bunch of "what if?" questions to get a bit ahead on the blog. A theme emerged...

What if extra terrestrials were to reveal themselves to us tomorrow? What if they revealed their ancestors had colonized our world in ancient times?

    Yeah, you've been a bit preoccupied with aliens ... I'm just hoping they didn't colonize our world with a now-extinct species...or we'll be sending Kirk back in time again....

      I started with one for instance, and then I realized that there were so many other iterations of the same idea. This is what happens when I sit down to write a bunch of what ifs at once. Which I have to do again soon, as this bunch runs out in about three weeks.

    It wouldn't surprise me, but why tell us now? Why do they want to contact us? Maybe I would ask that they take DNA tests to prove themselves.

    I would probably be saying "IN YO FACE!!!" to nay-sayers...I'm not sure that extraterrestrials are among us, but it also wouldn't surprise me. Also, I'd want to know what their purpose here is. Do they want to help? Why haven't they? Or have they, and humanity would be much worse off without their help? I have so many questions for the aliens. And while I might not firmly believe that they live among us, I do believe that we are definitely not alone in this universe.
