Time Travel Assassin

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements. ðŸ˜‰

You've just narrowly survived an attack. This random person came out of nowhere with some sort of weapon. It seemed as if they wanted to kill you. But why? You've done nothing to them. There's no reason why someone would want you dead.

What if you found out that this would-be assassin traveled from the future with the intent to kill you?

Today's question was inspired by a tweet...

    1. It's a great Twitter feed. I think this tale is my favorite, though.

  2. What if I found out that this would-be assassin traveled from the future with the intent to kill me?

Oh my goodness! I guess I'd need Marty McFly's help to beam me back to the future so I could fix whatever the reason is this person wants me dead for??!!

  3. I'd be wondering what future thing I was meant to be doing that someone would not want me to be doing. It might frighten me a bit to wonder if I would actually do it or if I would miss it somehow on my own accord. Great thought provoking question.

    1. You're assuming you deserve it. Might not be. Might just be someone wants to change the future. Who knows?

  5. I'd wonder what awesome thing I'm supposed to do that the assassin wanted to stop.
Then I'd check and see if he was a terminator...

  7. Meh. There's not really anything I can do about it. Except, you know, try not to die. Though I would want to know how the time travel process works.

  8. Funny I should land here today... I did a take on time travel, too!

I think I would just run like heck.

    Happy A-Z'ing!

  9. The bad guy, girl, not exactly sure with all the future junk hanging off of them, laid there sparking and twitching.
"What the tarnation was that about?" I scream in their slightly burned face.
    "You. You changed everything."
    "Good, bad?"
"Changed." They whisper fading. I mean really fading - they just fade from view.
"Well, that is just dandy. No hints." I stop and look around to see if anyone had showed up yet from all that noise, when I realize something. "Hey, I'm famous in the future. Guess I got that going for me. And the teachers said I would never amount to anything."

  10. I just looked through a bunch of his tweets. I am a new follower now. Thanks for the lead.

As far as what I would do, I would probably just get killed. Can't imagine I would be much of a challenge.

  11. Since I know that he is my would-be assassin, I would summon how much ever strength I can muster and try to understand why he wants to kill me. At least I would know what I am dying for!

  12. Terminator!! My mind would be going 90 miles an hour trying to figure out what good I would be doing in the future to have someone want to kill me before I make it to that point.
