Yuck

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements. ðŸ˜‰

What if you were only able to eat food you hate?

(I'm not going to specify a why, but some possibilities are allergies, a diet, or perhaps a post-apocalyptic scenario where food is scarce.)

  1. I'd find ways to season it to make it more palatable.
Unless it was Brussel's sprouts. Then I might starve.

  2. I would eat them as fast as I could. No enjoyment in eating this way. Bet it would be a good way to drop a few pounds, eating less!

  3. There are definitely foods I prefer not to eat but probably very little I find truly repulsive. It would be disappointing and I'd mourn the enjoyment of eating, but there are more important things.

  4. I guess I'd just try to ignore my tastebuds. I would be eating just to survive and would definitely drop a few pounds, which is useful post-apocalyptically anyway!

  5. If that happened to me, well...there's a bridge just a short walk away from where I live.

  6. If that meant this vegan had to eat meat I'd be one sick puppy.

  7. I would have to learn to choke down that food to survive. There would be no other choice.

  8. I would finally lose that last 50 pounds.

  9. I'd probably starve to death, being limited to brussel sprouts, lima beans, and oysters. Yuck!

  10. I might actually eat less as a result.

  11. YUCK....I bet I would drop more weight really fast. I am bad at not eating if I don't like something.

  12. I might be skinny for the first time ever ;) lol Other than meat since I'm a vegetarian I could deal with anything else just wouldn't be too happy about it.

  13. I will eat, because there is no alternative. But maybe I will eat less, naturally. But I will try to focus on something that is more inspiring than food.

  14. I would finally get down to a healthy weight, though I'd probably be in a really bad mood most of the time.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
