Yuck
At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements. 😉
What if you were only able to eat food you hate?
(I'm not going to specify a why, but some possibilities are allergies, a diet, or perhaps a post-apocalyptic scenario where food is scarce.)

I appreciate your comments.
I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.
*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.

I'd find ways to season it to make it more palatable.
ReplyDeleteUnless it was Brussel's sprouts. Then I might starve.
I would eat them as fast as I could. No enjoyment in eating this way. Bet it would be a good way to drop a few pounds, eating less!
ReplyDeletebetty
There are definitely foods I prefer not to eat but probably very little I find truly repulsive. It would be disappointing and I'd mourn the enjoyment of eating, but there are more important things.
ReplyDeleteThat's a positive attitude.
DeleteI guess I'd just try to ignore my tastebuds. I would be eating just to survive and would definitely drop a few pounds, which is useful post-apocalyptically anyway!
ReplyDeleteIf that happened to me, well...there's a bridge just a short walk away from where I live.
ReplyDeleteIf that meant this vegan had to eat meat I'd be one sick puppy.
ReplyDeleteI would have to learn to choke down that food to survive. There would be no other choice.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately...
DeleteI would finally lose that last 50 pounds.
ReplyDeleteI'd probably starve to death, being limited to brussel sprouts, lima beans, and oysters. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteI might actually eat less as a result.
ReplyDeleteLikely.
DeleteYUCK....I bet I would drop more weight really fast. I am bad at not eating if I don't like something.
ReplyDeleteThat seems to be the consensus.
DeleteI might be skinny for the first time ever ;) lol Other than meat since I'm a vegetarian I could deal with anything else just wouldn't be too happy about it.
ReplyDeleteI will eat, because there is no alternative. But maybe I will eat less, naturally. But I will try to focus on something that is more inspiring than food.
ReplyDeleteAh, that might work.
DeleteI would finally get down to a healthy weight, though I'd probably be in a really bad mood most of the time.
ReplyDeleteIt would be pretty miserable.
