In-Service

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements. 😉

What if our lives here are a training for a celestial promotion?

Today's A to Z Challenge post brought to you by the letter...

  1. Maybe that's exactly what our lives here are for. Maybe we're in training here, going through a series of challenges, so we are prepared for or worthy of whatever is in the next life.

  3. It better be one hell of a promotion for me to have to deal with all this.

  4. I got to thinking, a while back, that maybe people who suffer horribly are in the next-life equivalent of Navy Seal training. Maybe others are just in regular basic training. And people who die young didn't need much training. Who knows? Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

  7. I can't get the words In-Service out of my head. We have the realtor's equivalent tomorrow-8 hours of Continuing Education. What if I sleep in?

  10. Sounds sort of like a traditionalist Christian's heaven. ~grin~ I hope there is some sort of adventure in store! Be well, my dear.

    1. I see it as more of a New Agey thing, but what do I know?

  11. You mean like if we chose this particular life to go through lessons and challenges to improve our eternal spirit/soul? I'm failing.

  12. I mean, that's kind of what we're taught in church more or less.
