I sent her a message. She never replied.
But now it was in the back of my head. And turtle starts with T. The perfect excuse.
So, now you know what I knit last week...
It wasn't too difficult. I already had the yarn on hand. The eyes are bigger than the pattern called for, but I couldn't find those eyes locally. (And as I did this with a deadline, I didn't have time to search them out online.)
It's a cute little pattern, but there were a lot of little things to assemble. A second turtle would be a whole lot easier.
Maybe. Eventually.
Have you done anything this month you've never tried before? Do you like turtles?
I slept in until nine. Yep! I've only done that when I was sick. Maybe I should take my temperature!
ReplyDeleteAnyway the turtle's great fun. Your niece should appreciate it.
Hi Liz - I have never made anything like the wonderful things you produce through your knitting - love the colours ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you kept up with all of your knitting projects for A-Z! I have to start months in advance just preparing my theme. (And then it all goes awry when I lose my computer.)
ReplyDeleteWill you give your newly knitted turtle to your niece?
If she wants it. Since I can't get an answer from her, probably not.
DeleteI didn't plan any of my A to Z this year. The knitting projects were spur of the moment, oh-next-Monday-is-H-and-I-have-this-hedgehog-I've-been-meaning-to-try kind of thing that I managed to finish in less than a week.
so cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteHow cute. I think it would be a nice little thing to have.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I thought of when you asked the question about liking turtles, was I really don’t have an opinion. But then I gave it more thought and I realize that I kind of do like turtles. They are pretty neat creatures actually. I think I like the slowness of them.
ReplyDeleteI like this! You are so thoughtful to make a gift she will cherish!
ReplyDeleteIt's adorable! My great aunt collected turtles. SO whenever I see one I think of her. His shell is like a tiny hat on his back. Heather Erickson Author Writer Speaker
ReplyDeleteThe shell is constructed in a manner similar to hats.
DeleteThe eyes look great, and that turtle is super cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteI like turtles! For the first time at my docent gig over the weekend, I helped kids create leaf rubbings with an array of leaves from the Conservatory plants.
ReplyDeleteOooh, that sounds like fun.
DeleteAlways loved turtles! This is adorable.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteThat is so cute!! I do like turtles. I have to say though, the funniest thing when I think of turtles is seeing signs for lost ones posted on telephone poles, whatnot. I'm like "how do you lose a turtle when they move so slow?" I did do something new this month that I never tried before. I shot a gun at a gun range. My husband has a few guns and has wanted me to go at least once with him. I can't say I enjoyed it, but I tried it like he wanted me to do.
ReplyDeletebetty
This is cute and I could easily see this as a hat for a kid. I have been boring this month so nothing new but I do like turtles and I know someone who volunteers to go out in the early morning to make sure the cars miss the turtles who cross a certain road during mating season.
ReplyDeleteOh wow. Bad place for a road, I reckon ;)
DeleteLove your turtle, and I meant to say last visit I was impressed you'd knitted all your letters for the A to Z challenge. With your sort of style of course they'd let you in for tea with me at the Mandarin Oriental! Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteWren x
Thanks.
DeleteThis reminds me of the little turtles they used to sell as pets when I was growing up. They fascinated me. When I lived in Arkansas we had a turtle season, as I recall (it's been over 30 years now) maybe something like one of your commenters describes because I remember seeing turtles along the road. ReplyDeleteI bet those turtles grew...
DeleteI love turtles! This is adorable.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteOh that's adorable!
ReplyDeleteToo cute! And I think the eyes work fine.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteI like turtles but my daughter in law is crazy about them. They are so cute. I can remember when I was growing up my brother had a couple of those little ones you used to be able to get as pets. Great T to show!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I guess the little turtles were a thing.
DeleteIt's cute! I kind of like the big eyes.
ReplyDeleteYeah, they might not be as bad as I thought.
