Under Yarn

So, I find myself between projects yet again. Sigh. But then I realized that there was something I'd been meaning to do for a while, but I hadn't had the time.

It was time to cover my cords.

I've done this before. But this time I decided I didn't like the look of the last ones, so I was going to cover them with an I-cord. But, I hate knitting I-cords. Well, apparently, one can crochet an I-cord...

(Although, if you don't mind knitting the things, that would work as well.)

And, here's what I ended up with...

finished

in progress...

I know what you're thinking. Why? For the earbuds, it keeps them from getting tangled. And the other is just because I can. (Yes, I'm that kind of crazy.)

Do you ever do something just because you can?

Today's A to Z Challenge post brought to you by the letter...

Knitted U, monogram U, gift card holder

  1. I wondered where that U was going to come in. Really clever. I used to crochet with my grandmother--wonderful memories of that. I knitted exactly one time. You do not want to know how that turned out. Great to find your blog today on the day of U!

  2. So they don't tangle. That is way cool.
You can probably knit a sweater for a snake, too, I bet. If that was your thing.

  3. Cord warmers! You can start a new trend.

  4. Anything that keeps earbuds from getting tangled is a thing of beauty.

    Also laughing at Al's comment.

  5. I love them! Question though - how do you get them around the big ends? Or do you start them on the cable? I'm having fun on the A to Z, are you?

    1. I knit (crochet) them around the wire as I go. I wouldn't even want to attempt to thread it on there.

    1. It would. If anyone I got gifts for liked that sort of thing. (Alas, they don't.)

  12. I wish I could do this. My daughter braids Clara's blonde hair in this French braid style.

  14. As you know, not a knitter or crocheter, but I do play with paints and colored pencils and such, making all kinds of things that end up in a drawer.

    Do you find crocheting relaxing?

  15. I like the idea of keeping them untangled. I'm forever unknotting my earbuds!

  19. I love covering the I-cord and earbuds. At our house it would make it easier to match up with which kid they belonged too. Very nice!

  21. Clever idea, Liz. And what a reason - just because you can! I think that's great! I don't knit either but I'm sure I've done other things just because I can, no matter how goofy they are.

  27. This is quite good because often cords can be so messy or the pussy cats play with them and create something worse. Love the colours you used and just loving your letters

  28. That would be great for ear buds, I have to untangle mine nearly every time I use them. I often buy things "because I can" :)
