Other Uses

When I knit (or crochet) something, I have a purpose in mind. I have an idea of how I think the item will be used. But, that doesn't mean that everyone will see these things the same way I do.

Remember my gift card holders?

Originally they were intended as a solution for those who want to give something handmade and/or unique to those people (such as the teens in your life) who only want gift cards as gifts. These illustrated my A to Z posts this year. I also sell them in my Etsy shop, Zizi Rho Designs. I have put these little knitted pouches out at my farmers market appearances.

And they get the occasional look. At the last one, one lady saw them and saw a different use. They were the perfect size to fit her car's key fob.

But, she wondered if I could add a drawstring. Well, yeah, I can do that...

Because why not? Something I hadn't considered.

And finally, I'm going to go back on my no more spiders promise. My uncle thought the little guy needed to be animated...

  1. Cute with the spider animation :) Very clever use with the fob; glad she asked you about it; I think it would be something to consider down the line!

  2. Seems like that spider has about as much luck with Rubix cubes as I ever did. :)

I had a little pouch like that in my locker in high school. I used it to keep lunch money or smaller things like that in. I imagine what you've created could have many uses.

  3. The little drawstring is a great idea. And your uncle was right. The spider is just perfect for animation. It's hilarious to see it fiddling with that mini Rubix cube.

  5. I won that Z one! :D And I love it. I'm not actually using it to hold anything at the moment, but it's proudly hanging off my bookcase.

  6. If you used glittery wool and sequins those card holders would be ideal keep a lot of girly stuff in them. Love the animation!

    1. I hadn't thought of that. I could even do the letter in something fuzzy or glittery. Thanks for the idea!

  7. What's that saying..."Necessity is the mother of invention"? You certainly have the eye of the creative inventor.
I'm in the middle of Christmas knitting. But just as in years past I shoulda started the day after last year's Christmas for this year's gifts.
The spider animation is very cool!
