Blowing in the Wind, Part 2

It was another Sunday at the farmers market. It wasn't going to be too hot. It wasn't going to be too cold. Mid-sixties with the sun shining.

It wasn't terribly busy, but we had a bit of traffic. Not quite the Christmas rush yet. And it was a very nice morning.

Afternoon hit, and so did the winds.

I've previously mentioned my run in with winds. So, I thought I was fine. Until the first gusts started...

My entire canopy inched over (and it is staked down in the back), knocking over that white side table. And dumping everything on the ground. But I got off lucky.

A jewelry vendor's canopy went flying, knocking down her table and destroying all her displays. The Scentsy vendor lost a $50 warmer. And everyone else was busy trying to keep their stuff from going everywhere.

I had to start holding my canopy because the gusts were that strong. (The winds in between the gusts were things my displays could handle.)

The singer (there's a live musician who performs every week) started singing "Blowing in the Wind". Very apropos.

Well, it didn't take long for everyone to realize that the canopies were dangerous at this point...

And everyone pretty much packed up.

Of course, by the time the market was pretty much done due to winds, the gusts died down. Naturally. Ah well...

  1. Sorry about the winds. I can see a gust catching one of those covers and sending it flying.

  2. How frustrating! Mother Nature can be so uncooperative at times.

    1. I know. Doesn't she know we have outdoor events in the fall?

  3. Sounds horrible. Glad you didn't lose anything. Hopefully as Christmas nears things will go better.

    1. As long as we don't have rain on Sundays, we're good.

  4. What a beautiful day, but yeah, it's nearly impossible to do anything in a ferocious wind. Your display looked gorgeous, though, colorful and very inviting.

  5. Oh no. What bad luck for you and the other vendors. Of course it would die down right when people decide to leave.

  6. The wind can get so frustrating. Battling with it is impossible. I agree with VR. Your display was beautiful. So colorful. :)

  7. Fine choice of song. I feel sorry for the jewelry people. Your knit wear kept low.

  8. Oh no! At least your things aren't really breakable. I feel sorry for the jewellery stall holder though. And at least you have onsite entertainment.

    1. Yeah, I felt bad for those that had more fragile items. The worst that happened to me was that I had to wash some of my stuff. Not a terrible outcome.

  10. They can be so unpredictable those winds! Glad yours was only "minor" damage compared to others, but still what a hassle!

    1. Definitely a hassle, but that's what you deal with when you do outdoor shows.

  11. When one does craft shows outside, those winds can be horrible. My mom used to create beautiful faberge style eggs and she was outside but she knew to pack up quickly since her stuff was so fragile. I am glad none of you stuff was damaged

    1. We'll see. I'm back out there Sunday, and cooler temps are forecast. But not winds as far as I can tell.
