The Antagonist
At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements ;)
I think I've done this one before. But if I have, I can't find it. So, therefore, it's been a while and it's probably safe to do it again.
What if you're the story's villain?

I appreciate your comments.
I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.
*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.

Oooh I would revel in it:) We all have a good and bad side just think of Star wars or When Kirk became 2-the bad and the good. So if I am a villain in someone's book, so be it
ReplyDeleteThat would definitely be a fictionalized story, LOL. I can't imagine myself too much of a villain :)
ReplyDeletebetty
I suppose it depends on the story.
DeleteThen I'd probably be a really lousy villain. Unless I had a fast moving tank and was knocking slow drivers out of the way.
ReplyDeleteI am.
ReplyDeleteLOL
DeleteHonestly, I wouldn't be surprised. Plus, everyone is a villain (or at least antagonist) to someone else. It's all in how you frame the story.
ReplyDeleteI would be an inept villain for sure. Maybe like Gru, the villain in Despicable Me, I would also have minions. Hey, maybe I would be a minion! They are the best part of the Despicable Me franchise. Boy, am I digressing. What was the question? Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteSure, you can be a minion.
DeleteYeah, I don't think I'd make a very good villain either - unless the other guys were worse than me.
ReplyDeleteBeing the villain would be so refreshing. I suspect there is part of my brain ready to leap into the role.
ReplyDeleteI bet you'd make a good one.
DeleteI've never considered that. Don't think I have enough dark thoughts, stealth, or power to be a very effective villain. But, my daughter falls for the villain in EVERY book she reads. Hope she does better IRL.

Oh I LOVE villains. I always find villains interesting.
ReplyDeleteThen again, I hate upsetting people, so if I was the villain, I'd make a terrible one ;-)
Maybe that's your supervillain power: not upsetting people.
DeleteIf I was a villain I'd have a cat which sat on my lap and I'd stroke it with an evil laugh... or has that already been done?
ReplyDeleteI bet you'd do it better. But, I think yipping dogs would work better, don't you?
DeleteNot a big leap really, just ask the little blighters in the park next door who leave their shit everywhere. I have become the litter chasing madwoman villain of Sorrento. Don't mind it in the least.
ReplyDeleteOh no. They're the villains there.
