Our Prison

While looking for something else, I stumbled on a list of what if questions. Go me! Although, it would have been nice if I remembered that existed that week that I was completely blank. Ah well...

What if Earth was constructed as a prison of sorts? What if our ancestors were put here as a punishment or a way to isolate us from the rest of the intelligent species in the universe?

  1. After watching four boys in a truck INTENTIONALLY swerve in order to mow down the poor dog crossing the road yesterday afternoon, I'd say it explains a lot! :(

  2. That sounds like an awesome plot for a science-fiction novel of the future. Penal colony Earth could be all that's left after humans leave and somehow get irradiated and turn into monsters. The prisoners stop getting correspondence from outer space, etc. And then one day, the monsters return and the prisoners must band together and make a stand as the last survivors of the human race.

  3. Ah, the smelly kid on the playground scenario, where no one wants to hang out with you and you just can't figure out why.

It would be interesting to learn our world was a constructed place, and it being isolated on purpose is totally believable. Look how hard it's been for us to find other life-supporting planets. Maybe we were dumped on a faraway place like this for a good reason.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
