Timeline Fail

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements.
😉

The other morning, as I was dozing, I came up with a great "what if?" question. That I now can't recall. Sigh. So, I'll again "borrow" from Twitter...

What if the time travelers are actually here and have been trying (and trying and trying) to fix this year?

  1. Frankly, that would explain a lot. And it's also one of those stories where every time they fix something they're making it worse.

    1. Agreed. I'm reminded of "The Butterfly Effect". The theatrical release ended on a relative high note while darker screenings failed at audience appeal. I hope 2020 gets a theatrical version. :) Be well! And I hope you recall your idea.

  2. They are doing a horrible job of it lol. I would ask them to go back to their regular time and stay there!

  3. I bet they've been stuck in this loop for a very long time.

  4. I wish them the best...But maybe they would even make it worst. Who knows

  5. Then I would FOR SURE hate to see what it was like before they tried fixing it! And whoever thought Murder Hornets and the deadly pneumonia they're now talking about were good plot twists? I want words with them.

I also wish them the best. It sounds like we all need it.

    1. And what about the murder hornets? Where did they suddenly go? It's like they were a problem and then pfft?

  6. I don't know how successful they are going to be. I wonder when we go back to the 'old normal' whenever that be, how well we will be able to adapt to it.

This morning I was watching a cricket match from the 1990s on Youtube. The stadium was packed to capacity, cheering on the top of their voice the Indian team who were on a song. I wondered when will we again see such an exuberant crowd!

    1. If it would help. I don't think it would help. I think they would only make things worse.

  8. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Every time they go back to fix it, they make it worse.

    1. Oh really? Fascinating. I haven't had a chance to see that as of yet.

  9. They need to give up...between this Virus, Trump, stupidity etc... they should just blow up their time travel device..after they get back to their timeline. Oh and good ole Trudeau is saying sorry to the Canadians again. He’s been using our tax dollars to hire his family for speaking engagements..

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
