In the sun. I'm sure you know where this is going...
Yes, I did wear sunscreen. I just didn't rub it in all the way up my arm. So, I only got burned where I missed, and that is about half of what it was 12 hours prior. (I have some great after sun gel that helps quite a bit.)
I saw where they had all the crazy food...
$125 caviar-covered, deep-fried Twinkie. Down the hatch. Only at the @ocfair!! #ocf125 pic.twitter.com/7AM4GTf1DV

Because there are crazy people who want a caviar-covered Twinkie. Or a three-patty hamburger with a Krispie Kreme bun...

Not my sort of thing. I like to go and look at the knit and crochet entries. My favorite was a box of crocheted donuts (that I didn't take a picture of and I can't find a picture of on social media. Sorry).I did not expect my Monday posts to turn into the how-I-got-sunburned-this-week posts. Hopefully next week I'll have no new sunburn stories.
You got burned all right!
ReplyDeleteNo way I'm eating a Twinkie with fish eggs on it. And that burger would clog up my arteries for a week.
Oh no! Not again. What we need is a vat of sun screen you can roll in before going out. I hope you don't have any more burn stories, too.
ReplyDeleteCaviar covered twinkie? Ew. On so many levels, ew.
I don't know how I manage to avoid getting sunburned. I think I just run from shade to shade! My moisturizer has sunscreen in it, but that only protects my face. I noticed when we were on vacation, my sister hosed herself down every day with sunscreen and I never did...and I still didn't get a sunburn. Maybe the sunless tanner I wear has destroyed all my skin cells!
ReplyDeleteI have very fair skin. You are probably one of the lucky ones who tans and doesn't really burn.
DeleteOuch!! All those fair food are crazy, aren't they. I love caviar but I cannot imagine eating it on a Twinkie. I will stick with toast points!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried caviar, but I'll take your word for it. On a Twinkie just seems wrong.
DeleteOuch! Aloe Vera! I love caviar but not on twinkie!
ReplyDeleteMy after sun gel contains aloe vera for sure.
DeleteYour sunburn looks like what happens to me all the time.
ReplyDeleteA crocheted donut? That sounds cute!
It was. I should have taken a picture, but I didn't think of it.
DeleteLooks like a typical fair :) How cute with the crocheted donuts! That would have been fun to see and no calories of course! At least you tried not to get sunburned, so that's a good step in the right direction with remembering sunscreen :)
ReplyDeletebetty
Now I just need to be more careful to get all the exposed skin.
DeleteThe last time I saw food like that was at a marijuana festival (I live in Washington state where pot is legal).
ReplyDeleteThat sunburn looks all too familiar. Ouch!
I bet most of that food would be welcome at a marijuana festival.
DeleteI think I would pass on the crazy food!
ReplyDeleteI stuck with a corn dog and Australian battered potatoes.
DeleteI don't think I would ever eat that food combo. I have been there with that sunburn-not fun when one has to wear a bra
ReplyDeleteNow, we are just the opposite at the New York State Fair (except you can still get sunburned). 25 cent glasses of milk (choice of plain or chocolate), and the servings are delicious and cold. $1 baked potatoes with toppings. Best baked potatoes ever! You should see the lines for those. No deep fried Twinkies with caviar for us upstate New York types. (And, on Senior Day, seniors get in free.) ReplyDeleteWe have a senior day too. And I was only highlighting the ridiculous food, because that seems to be the draw these days.
DeleteHopefully your sunburn is completely healed by now. I've had my share of missed one spot burns too. I thought the Minnesota State Fair had the strangest fair food but no longer. My favorite thing at the fair is looking at the crafts competition entries.
