A Small Favor

Could you all do me a favor? If you're on Blogger, could you check to make sure my comments didn't end up in your spam folder?

Lately, I've noticed some of my comments have not been appearing on your blogs. At first, I assumed they were being deleted (as all blog owners totally can and should curate their comments), but it's happened way too frequently for that to be the issue.

And, I'm finding many regular commenters in my spam folder.

Comment is not spam. Middle icon marks comment as spam.

Comment is marked as spam. Check mark takes it out of spam folder.

So, if you wouldn't mind, could you go and double check. Thanks.

    1. I don't think I've had the problem on your blog. Not that I recall.

  2. Liz, I was about do a post like this ... Because recently, when I randomly checked the spam folder, I noticed that the comments of some of my regular readers were lying there. Looks like this has been happening for quite a few months now ...

  3. I get notified by email you've left a comment, and also they are in the pending comment area on Blogger. Blogger has gotten better for me as far as commenting on my own blog. I don't have to approve them anymore!

    1. That's one way I catch them--I get the email, but when I check on my blog, the comment isn't there. It's cool when it is a spam comment (and I get a few of those), but when it's a regular commenter, I wonder why Blogger flagged it.

  4. I'll leave a comment and you can see where it goes, and if you'll do the same on my blog, I'll let you know what happens.

    1. This comment went through on its own. But random ones will go to spam for no discernible reason, so continue to check.

  5. I notice this happening with yours and other peoples also. It is happening with such frequency that I always check my spam folder first these days.

    1. It happened on my blog with Liz. I also noticed it from another blogger. I'm glad Liz showed me the way. I never thought of doing that (should have, though).

    2. Yeah, I'm not sure why mine get flagged, but I know I'm not the only one.

  6. I'll check. Luckily, your comment on Funerals By George made it. Sometimes, if I'm out in town, I'll see your comment on my email (which is good). If I answer there, it'll come up as "Anonymous."

    1. I have the comments set so that they will come through on my email, which alerts me when I don't then see the comment on the blog. But some of my regulars don't pop up in email for some reason. I'm not sure why.

  7. Just checked. Yep. Spam. I'll check it often. Thank you!

  8. I find there are times that spam filters are a bit too enthusiastic, but I haven't seen any of your comments end up in spam :) I do occasionally get some bloggers tell me they found my comments in spam, although it seems to be more a WordPress thing than a blogger thing for me!

Hope you are having a good day :)

    1. Guess what comment ended up in the spam folder. This one. Yup. There is no rhyme or reason to it sometimes. Weird.

  9. Yours didn't but thanks for the reminder - I had a bunch to approve.
I noticed that last week during IWSG day. I'd go back and my comment would be gone.

    1. I don't think I've had the issue on your blog. And I know others are having the same issues as me. Thanks.

    1. I saw a few July comments in the spam folder, but I could have sworn that I also saw them under the requisite post, so...? Bizarre.

    2. Yeah, it can be a little off. It's there, then it's not... I really hope they fix the problem soon.

  11. I forget to check the spam folder sometimes and suddenly remember and then find 2 or 3 comments there. I'm sorry if some were yours, they're all published now.

    1. Thanks for checking. This issue has been cropping up lots of places, so I thought it was time to do a reminder for everyone.

  12. You haven't been in my spam folder. I check it regularly. I just switched my comments to pop up on the advice of a blogger friend. I'm hoping that commenting will be easier for people now.

  13. This is happening a lot with some of my regular commenters, including one who comments daily. I think I did find your comments in spam once or twice; I am now checking spam once or twice a day. Spam is empty as of right now.

    1. Yeah, there were a couple times (I think) when I went back and found my comments missing from your blog. Isn't it trippy how it's happening to commenters that are regular? I'm shocked sometimes at who the spam folder snags.

  14. Thank you! I don't think to check for spam under comments, yet there were fifteen including yours.

    1. Yeah, I noticed some had gone missing from your blog. It's happening everywhere, so I thought I should do a heads-up.

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
