I've been knitting away on the Calash...
...but I've only made a little progress on it. I haven't been doing a lot of knitting this past week.
It's not due to the weather. It's partly because I've been tired at night and not really in a knitting mood, but mostly it's been due to not being able to see very well.
Some idiot *ahem* accidentally switched her contact lenses around and is having trouble seeing things clearly.
It's a long story, so suffice it to say that even though I've been wearing contact lenses for over 35 years (so I know how to keep my left and right contacts straight), I managed to mix them up somehow. And this is only a big deal as I am now doing the monovision thing (which I've only been doing since January), so it's going to take a minute for my brain to compensate. (It took about a month to get accustomed to this the first time. I'm hoping the mix up--which it took me three days to catch--won't take that long to settle again.)
Considering what I do for a living, the contact mix-up made for an interesting week.
I gave up contacts a long time ago, couldn't wear them because of seasonal allergies and watery eyes...
ReplyDeleteI do love wearing contacts. Sorry about your allergies.
DeleteSure hope you are able to readjust quickly.
ReplyDeleteKnitting and crocheting to me is a winter craft, esp if you making throws or something big cause you sure don't want to be out on the deck, in the heat with a 1/2 finished throw covering you legs...Contacts, I stopped wearing them a few yrs back. Back years ago I always wanted them but I had allergies so bad and they tend to attack the eyes the most. Finally, ten years of allergy shots I could wear them but I had to wet them all the time with solution cause of dry eyes. Course at the time I could wear them I also needed reading glasses. I tried the one eye nearsighted and one reading and that threw me off balance to much..I have a balance issue anyway. So, I just stopped. Love the freedom of being able to wear them though. Happy Monday...
ReplyDeleteI was worried it would be harder than it is. Of course, I don't have balance issues, so it was a fairly easy transistion.
DeleteGlad you figured out why you couldn't see well. I love the color combination of your current project.
ReplyDeleteYou better speak to that idiot about being more careful! XD
ReplyDeleteMy eyes have not had the same prescription in ages, so mixing them up wouldn't have been a good idea before. Of course, then, when it wouldn't have been a major screw up, I never did it.
ReplyDeleteGreat progress on the scarf, sorry about the lenses...
ReplyDeleteContacts. I am extremely nearsided and have bad astigmatism in one eye on top of it. I was told years ago that I couldn't wear soft contacts because of my vision - I never pursued it further (I wasn't interested in hard contacts). Not sure I would start now in my late 60's. I'm so used to glasses; been wearing them since I was 4 years old. (I'm another fall and winter crocheter, by the way.)
ReplyDeleteI am extremely nearsighted too. (At this point, I'm at a -8 or -9.) You could totally wear soft contacts. But, I understand not wanting to change anything now.
DeleteHi Liz - must be challenging for both crochet work and school teaching work ... hope they work ou - all the best Hilary
ReplyDeleteOh no..
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I got Lasik done ten or so years ago and I do not miss the days of contacts and glasses.
That sounds horrible! I'm impressed that you've managed so long with contacts. I HATED them when I wore them, and haven't worn them since my wedding day. I'm so used to glasses now that it just feels weird not to have them on anyway. I hope your eyes adjust soon.
ReplyDeleteDay by day it's getting better. I love contacts. I don't mind switching into my glasses at night, but going around all day, I so prefer the contacts.
DeleteWhat you’ve done so far looks good. That must suck which is why I will never wear contacts. Sucks when the eyes don’t keep up.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could do contacts, but I guess with glasses their is never a risk of mixing them up. I hope your eyes have settled a little.
