My Knitting Whoops

The other day, I posted this on Instagram...

...and someone commented that they didn't see the mistake. On a venue such as Instagram, it might be difficult to see. But it's such a glaring error. I'm surprised it took me a couple rows to notice it.

Here's another shot of the knitting in progress (before I've ripped out the error)...

It's at the top.

See it? Just in case, I marked this photo up a bit. In blue I've highlighted the mistake. In black is the way it should look...

And it wasn't even a Friday night when I did this. Sigh. Ah well. It's an easy enough fix.

I finally got a picture of the lightbox in action...

I really like how easy the lightbox makes taking photos. I don't like how long it takes to set up and tear down. But, it doesn't really take that long, so I guess I'm just whining.

Progress is slow, but it is progress. I'll get it done eventually.

  2. I too didn't see the mistake but a crafter like you would I'm sure. What is it going to be eventually? Its a pretty color yarn. I too like the light box!

  3. I wouldn’t have seen it either.

    The light box is wonderful

    1. Perhaps it needed to be in hand. It's a pretty blatant error, although it is hard to see in the picture.

  4. I still can't tell, but that's probably because of my lack of experience with knitting. If it's right at the top, it obviously didn't take you long to figure it out :)

  5. Yeah, I never would have noticed, either. But I am not a knitter.

The lightbox is really cool. I love the pic of it in action!

  6. Ditto on the light box being a cool tool. I confess my non-knitter's eye had a hard time seeing the 'boo boo'.

    1. It must be hard to see in the picture. That's okay. It's gone now.

  7. Even with you pointing it out, I'm still not quite seeing it. I guess since it's so close to the working row that it makes it blend a bit for me.

    1. Look at how the pattern jags. But yea, it's so close to the working row that that kind of disguises it.

  8. I think it's just hard to see in the picture. I had to enlarge to full screen the one with the black and blue to see it. I think it is one of those things that once you've seen it, it stands out. And I just realised it's samesies for the background of your blog page!

  9. Glad you pointed out your blunder, since I don't knit I wouldn't of caught it.
But I sure like the texture.

  10. I guess I'm the sort who feels that those tiny "errors" add charm to hand-knitted items. Of course, if they are for sale, they should be perfect, so I understand backing up to fix it!

    1. This isn't for sale. It's for me. But this wasn't charming. This was full on blunder that would have looked obvious had I kept going.

  11. Well, that is just super cool and I didn't see those glitches in your stitches until you circled them. :) - I'm the same way with my crocheting tho. Nobody else will notice but I notice and so the unraveling begins. I love the knitting pattern and I really like that light box! I need one of those!

    1. Yes, the light box is great. I got it on Amazon. But I'm sure you could get one from a different retailer if so desired.

  12. I wouldn't have seen it either. I'm not a knitter but with my years of crocheting, I might have seen it. Blame my eyes. I enjoyed seeing the lightbox (I'm not familiar with them) and the fact that you blogged all about an error. That was really, as my generation liked to say, "cool".

    1. I think it was hard to see in photo form. If you'd touched the fabric, you would have seen it instantly. (And I was kind of stretching out my posts this week. Check back Wednesday to see what almost was today's post.)

  13. I saw it but I thought you just changed the pattern. I like the lightbox

  14. So are yarn mistakes more likely to happen on Friday night?

The light box looks really cool. Where did you get it? I think that could be awesome for getting better pictures of food.

    1. For some reason, Friday nights I'm an idiot. So, yes, I'm more likely to make stupid errors then.

I got the lightbox off Amazon.
