Costumed

At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? On Tuesdays I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements. ðŸ˜‰

What if you just discovered that the Halloween costume you've been planning and putting together for weeks is similar to the one your worst enemy (or best friend) is also going to be wearing to that party that you'll both be at?

  1. My best friend is my wife so I guess we'll just be going as twins.

  2. I wouldn't care..I'd wear mine with glee because I know it would get her goat..I am such a meanie. I would wear mine with bells on

  3. I'd go anyway in the costume and not change it up. If it was my best friend, we would get a laugh. If it was my worst enemy, maybe we too would get a laugh and maybe leave the party better friends and less enemies.

  4. I'd never go anywhere they'd show up anyway.

  5. I'm not much of a party goer anyway so I never would have been invited to that party! No worries about enemies and duplicate costumes.

    1. Are you sure? Maybe just this once you might get invited to a great Halloween bash.

  6. Well, it really would not bother me unless she looks better in it then I do!!! If that would be the case I would do something to make mine stand out more, a little crafting, adding bling, lace...etc. I would also work on making my makeup stand out.

  9. Ugh. I hate wearing Halloween costumes. I'd probably roll my eyes and move on with life. It's not worth stressing over. Or maybe I wouldn't dress up at all. Honestly I don't know what I would do. Costumes from Party City are never worth the money and if I spent any time and effort into coming up with a costume, I'm just not sure it would be worth changing last minute.

    1. That's too bad. I hear it's fun to dress up for Halloween. (I haven't done it in years.)

    2. Are the kids at the schools you teach at allowed to dress up for Halloween?

I appreciate your comments.

I respond to comments* via email, unless your profile email is not enabled. Then, I'll reply in the comment thread. Eventually. Probably.

*Exception: I do not respond to "what if?" comments, but I do read them all. Those questions are open to your interpretation, and I don't wish to limit your imagination by what I thought the question was supposed to be.
