Fresh

"It feels so fresh in here."

It had been a swelteringly hot week. 100°+ temps a couple days. It was forecasted to only be in the 90s on Friday, but I still had the air conditioning on as soon as I got there.

I knew I wasn't going to get many complaints about the a/c, and I didn't. But instead of coming into the room and commenting on how cool it was, I got the above comment. A few times. And not only on this day. It seems that "fresh" is the new "cool" or something.

Ah well. Hopefully this week things will cool off a bit.

  1. My granddaughter has been using the word "fresh" a lot lately! Must be the new word across the states!!

  2. Can't help but think of the 90s TV show "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." Maybe "fresh" is making a comeback.

  3. How do the older schools in the south and midwest many without A/C?? We will have the A/C turned on until the air outside gets into the mid 70s.

    1. There's a local school district (not the one I work for, thank goodness) that doesn't have a/c for all its classrooms. The parents have been circulating a petition to get that corrected. So, not just in the south and midwest do some not have a/c.

  7. Nothing fresh about teaching in Queensland where the temps are 35 degrees C plus in the summer, and that's outside, hotter inside with 30 kids all sweating up a storm and learning to manage hormones. Stinky barely begins to describe.

    1. That sounds awful. I've been in rooms with broken air conditioners on days like this, and it's not pleasant at all.

  8. If it's so hot outside and you walk into cool A/C, I can see how that would feel fresh. It's the "AH!" feeling. ;)

    1. This isn't actually all that unusual. I can recall a couple of stifling October days a few years back.

    1. Thanks. We could use the El Nino that they've been promising/threatening.

  11. This is going to sound like one of those "when I was your age, I walked three miles to and from school in the snow, in my bare feet, uphill both ways" comments but...when I was growing up there was no such thing as air conditioning in classrooms. Or our apartments, for that matter. I can feel for you because I remember some pretty sweltering days as a student - so hard to concentrate on anything. Made us long for those days of walking barefoot in the snow 3 miles each way. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

    1. Yeah, I know we have it pretty good. I remember about half my classes had a/c when I was a student, so I do appreciate a good working air conditioner.
